This was weird, janky, not at all what I expected, but weirdly intriguing and I played it for quite a while I think...
I found
* pizza cat
* flesh blob
* dancing boiler fren
* liminal hole under hotel (failed to acquire goth pussy - am I supposed to go farther?)
* "what are you doing here?"
I didn't quite put together what I was supposed to do or where I was supposed to go, though. Still, it had a good atmosphere and the interactivity was solid.
You got quite a lot further than I expected, you may have been the first to find pizza cat and flesh blob. That whole area is placeholder and hotel is WIP. An asset pass coming soon!
> I didn't quite put together what I was supposed to do Biggest place for me to improve. Players technically get an email with goals as they leave the rest area, but the new mail chime is so quiet, I think only one person noticed. I will improve this by either making the audio alert more noticeable (maybe even a "You've got mail" voice-line) or starting you off with that email already in your inbox, or both!
I had the same emails at the end that I did at the beginning. Instructions / your laptop / welcome.
Welcome says
* Flag downed power lines
* Report damaged infrastructure
* Identify hazards
Not clear how to do any of these things. Am I supposed to use the camera? The way the email is written with errors signals to me that it isn't very important, and I can skim it.
I took some pics with the camera but I don't see how to email the pics
I played the previous demo but I think I ended up not writting a review. I played this version again. Here's some thoughts:
Changing the starting point to inside the bathroom was a good idea. Before was fine too, but the tutorial in how to move the boxes is nicer and more effience in a game sense.
The effects on the shed with the cockroaches are really good. I don't think they used to stick to the camera before, this was a nice addition if so.
The concept of the game is nice but, and this is just some armchair advice, so take it with some modicum of salt: The game is too ambitious. The hotel, driving mechanic, forest, long roads, several mechanics like the water jet, bug spray etc, I think this is all too much to actually be done well and satisfyingly by the amount of effort I'm seeing. If this is going to be a full game at some point, and not just a project (which is fine if so), I'd streamline the game. Pick a tighter gameplay loop, focus on one goal and do it. The hotel is incredibly ambitous for how big it is and how much it'll require to look good and imo not a good direction to take it in this level of modeling.
The shed was the best part imo, if this was a game where you go around cleaning small, creepy locations like those in the woods I think it would be more achievable. Just some thoughts— still wish you a good development
Glad you gel with the new tutorial, most common complaint is people don’t know what to do, I’m trying to give them a stronger sense of that and I hope it’s working.!
As for the scope, yeah it's pretty big, but it's 100% a hobby project for me and I have been enjoying every step. I like the technical challenges of the gameplay, or chilling with 90s TV on the second monitor while making assets. I don't really see myself spending evenings differently, and this project has me more engaged than other ideas I have.
I’ve been focused more on core gameplay so the game has barely grown in asset count since the last couple of demo days, but I’m almost done on that and hyped to get started on assets and polish.
The hotel was a self imposed challenge to make a "big" level after having made a bunch of smaller ones before. I think I did forget that I can pretty easily make small locals too, and completely discount them, so thank you for the reminder!
Thank you for playing! I will add more indications as to what you're supposed to do, so far like 1 in 10 people get it ;n; Thank you for feedback on the car, sometimes I suspect that something is off, but I need to hear it from others. Especially with how something "feel"

Thanks for the Linux build.
Thank you for playing tendiespace!

Thank you for playing... twice!

This is a very strange game. I came in blind, and didn't knew hat to expect, or what the objectives were.
It is quite creepy. Good job in the atmosphere there.
I like the mechanics so far. Very cool that you "do" all of the stuff, like getting in the car, driving while being able to look around, etc.
The car felt a bit like driving on ice though. I believe it needs more traction on the wheels.
No idea what my objective was though.

V2:
Camera smoothing is now off by default, ywc
should've expected a spoowky game on demon day
Thank you for playing!
