I haven't played many old-school roguelikes, but this a very well made one given the time and restrictions! The controls feel a bit unwieldy at first, but I appreciate the amount of flexibility they offer when they let you move and attack in 8 directions. Plus it's turn-based; spending time fumbling with the controls isn't going to hurt. I didn't get too far (got obliterated by the first mushroom I encountered) but I enjoyed what I saw!
