Description
What Grows Between Us
You are the estranged child of a woman you never quite understood, and now she's gone. All she's left behind is a run-down store deep in the wilderness, a place you never once visited while she was still here. You arrive expecting dust and mold, but instead find overgrown gardens bristling with quiet magic, shelves of unfinished recipes and a business that seems to be waiting for someone to pick it back up. As you rebuild, you find pieces of her, pieces of yourself, and a community that's been waiting for someone to bring the shop back to life.
What Grows Between Us is a cozy life-sim about rebuilding what was left behind, and discovering the people who make it worth keeping.
Track Info:
Mom's Lullaby: The wistful tune of a music box you found on mom's desk. It brings back forgotten memories...
Here Comes Trouble...: A kooky whirlwind of a theme. Something's already on fire, or about to be. She waltzes in like the mess isn't hers to clean up, and but it usually is. Loud and a little bit dangerous to be around, the wayward aunt beckons...
A Happy Mistake/A Little Magic: Two jingles that play after a puff of smoke and a lil' pizzaz. One for the perfect batch and the other for better luck next time!
Muscle Memory: The quiet ache of familiarity, as the shop becomes less of a duty and more of a home. In every motion, the shape of who you're slowly becoming.
The Quiet Country: The world slows down, just a little, as the outdoors settle in around you. Lights flicker faint in the distance, and somewhere in the quiet work of the land, a little peace finds its way in.

Theme
How does it fit the theme?
What Grows Between Us represents the theme through the relationship between the player and their mother. In the process of reopening the shop and tending the garden, the player doesn't just recover memories, they uncover a forgotten world of magic and confront a relationship that was never resolved. The hands-on nature of the gameplay, planting, brewing, crafting, mirrors this dual rediscovery: each task is both a literal act of rebuilding and a step toward understanding who their mother was, and who they themselves were before the estrangement.

I was sold to your Style from the first moment.
Very expresive textures and such a quicky composition. Leaning into animation Type Music very cool i coudnt write that hahah.
Also the Theme is very good and keeps playing in my head afterwards.
I need to listen to more lullyby Songs. There is much Gold out there :)
Mom’s Lullaby: Your commitment to an authentic music box sound with two voices and the sound down at the end when the wind up stops is incredible. On top of that, this is also just a really well-crafted theme.
Here Comes trouble…: This is SUCH a fun track. There are similarities between this track and some of my favorite Nintendo games as a kid that makes this feel almost nostalgic for me. The theme is short, but I love the energy packed into it and the loop feels seamless.
A Happy Mistake/A Little Magic: Having little stingers like this is a hallmark of a game’s OST, yet they aren’t very common in these competitions. These are also exceptionally made since they use the themes from the other tracks and expand on them. This definitely adds major points to the storytelling category for me!
Muscle Memory: This is my favorite track of your OST! The nostalgia hits strongly with this one as well. Your selection of instruments is impeccable at fitting the style and emotion you describe. I particularly love the accordion (I think?) - I’m curious what sound you used for that?
The Quiet Country: Another really beautiful and self-descriptive track. Again your selection of instruments works really well.
My overall impression is that this is a really imaginative and interesting take on the theme that is executed with the skill of a seasoned composer. Really wonderful work on this and thank you for sharing your music!
Thank you so much for the kind words! The accordion sound is the keyscape harmochord.
Very nice OST, I quite liked the range of emotions it had (between very playful and very emotional), it came accross very well with your choice of instrumentation !
The Quiet Country was really effective for the emotions you wanted to convey (I think it was my favourite of the very solid selection), good job overall for your soundtrack !
Oh wow I really enjoyed the Klangfarbenmelodie-texture in the "Here Comes Trouble"! It was so full-on and confusing, and yet somehow coherent. I admire the creativity behind it!
The rest of your soundtrack gave me a few distinct vibes. Some of it was a mix between Undertale and Stardew Valley vibes, while I could imagine other parts appearing in old-school arcade games, like Bubble Bobble! Lovely!
Thanks so much for the kind words!
PEAK!
Thank you!
Very interesting soundtrack, I really love the second song, which makes me think of old cartoons. All of them fit nicely together, nice job!
Thank you so much!
