tl;dw really enjoyed this entry

the concept is fun and i like how off-rails it is

only thing that felt kinda off was no sense of actual progression, like the purple things and the coins just kinda exist and don't contribute to anything else in the game

Auto jumping when walking into the flag hole by spawn seems wrong since you can't fall into it. When I put the first ball into a hole, it would be nice if the flag changed so you can tell from a distance that it's completed. Doing some platforming on the tree, the jump randomly activated so it made me jump off when I was trying to walk down the branch.

The ball direction always being to the right of your character feels bad, I would prefer if it pointed in the direction of the camera, since that's where I'm looking at the target/where I want to hit the ball.

I almost stopped since I could only find two holes, I saw others saying there was more so I messed around and realized the random explosion I heard earlier opened a cave.

Hitting the ball into shiny spots for coins feels sadistic, takes way too long and there's so many of them. Maybe do fewer but more coins per payout.

I put the white ball into the hole on a island with a broken bridge, it did nothing for some reason.

I did 6 holes before stopping, it's alright I suppose.

I had fun.

Her "horaa~" is cute.

- The auto-jumping is very jank, it's the boring suggestion but a jump button would probably be better.

- Same thing Gray Feather said about putting a damping effect on the ball when its below a certain speed.

- I had no idea how to get some flags like the watermill.

- I also had a glitch where I jumped at the watermill wheel and glitched inside of it, after jumping around a bit I got stuck underwater.  I didn't die and could walk around but my reset point was now underwater so I had to exit and reopen the game.

- When I reopened the game and selected continue the balls all respawned so I had a difficult time telling if I completed a flag or not.

Developer

ty for playing I'll work on fixing the respawn and making the watermill clearer
you're meant to hit the ball into the wheel so it rides up and goes through a hole that carries it onto the ramp into the flag but it's a bit jank and hard to tell that the holes connect

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo… Dropped it here, annoying wedges where the ball gets stuck due to gravity.

Cute, I like it.

-music doesn’t loop

-not having jump is unique but makes for a lot of unfair/annoying jumps, especially near water. that one island stranded pole has a drop down which normally i’d walk off in a platformer, but walking off made me hop into the water.

-shading on the house is weird, you might need to add more topology if you use vertex shading

-getting the ceramic/white ball in the hole did nothing

-I got the ball over the river and into the wrong hole because I didn’t know there was another ball, seemed to do nothing(watermill area)

-the last 10% distance of the ball takes long to settle, consider applying extra damping below a velocity threshold

-coin gain animation should be slower

-nice art direction

and I nearly forgot, you placed coins at the level transition and when I tried to collect them, went to the next level, went back, they were gone. evil..

Developer

I appreciate the feedback ty
I meant to remove coins from the boulders I forgot.... it's pretty much impossible to get all the coins before the transition pulls you in
I was torn on autojump but it's not much of a platformer I think I just need to tune it a bit more to be more forgiving on drops

Also forgot to mention I don’t care for the mechanic of golfing over the particles to get coins, doing it so slowly, waiting for it to settle.. yeah, sounds annoying.

and consider interacting with the ball making you aim head on, my default behavior most of the game was look at where I want to aim, interact, and aim left/right of where I want to go. instead you can place the character at a 90 degree offset.

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2865729092 Quite fun!

The physics are surprisingly refined, though necessarily then also feel glitchy at times. I was impressed by the fact that my shot angle was constrained by where the character could reasonably stand, then proceeded to lock myself into a wall. Mashing TAB somehow got me out of it.

I think I put a few balls into the wrong hole? From the adventure & discovery angle it feels to me like it would actually be fun if you could play any ball into any hole. Would give you some interesting choices perhaps.
