Hey, I gave your game a play!  I'll start by saying that I'm not really a 4x player, so some of this may be that I'm not familiar with genre conventions.  Overall I'll say I was able to figure out the game in my second playthrough, and I was able to amass a pretty good army and hold some territory.  But I didn't really engage with some of the deeper systems and eventually one of the bots got the 5 feats and beat me.  I think this is at least partially being unfamiliar with the genre, but I think improving the UI to make the game state clearer would help (like really making it obvious when an opponent gets a feat).  Also, along those lines, on my first play through, it wasn't really obvious what I should be doing.  When I was supposed to pick a capital, it wasn't clear why I could place it in some places and another (and I don't think it gave feedback other than graying out the button).  Then on my first turn, I really struggled to get through, not really being sure how to do the city stuff.  Making things more obvious that you're supposed to click, and what you can and can't do, would help.   So I think my biggest issues were the onboarding, and UI, just making it more clear to the player what they can and should do to start.  Also, I think defaulting to 1 bot opponent might help just so it's a bit simpler in your first go.

I'll say I did like the interactions, movement animations, and how things play out.  I also like the setup, where you grab territory and build settlements, and invest in new units.  With the look of it, it gives Settlers of Catan vibes, which is good.  The actual move interface though felt a bit clunky, with a lot of clicks, though confirming makes sense so you don't make a mistake.  If you can reduce the number of clicks for that that would be good.  Also I didn't really pay much attention to the resources, and just picked districts that produce them in the capital so I could then make the units.  I feel like there's a lot of good stuff here, and I like that it's designed for quick playthroughs.

This might just be me and my unfamiliarity with the genre, so take it with a grain of salt, but overall I think focusing on a single system and getting it really tight would be a good route to take, and this would help give the player something to focus on.  Like maybe the expansion and holding of territory is the main focus, and then it is really clear to the player whether they are succeeding or failing.

  • Youtube Link / Twitch Link
  • Graphics : Fine, a bit minimalist.
    • There are some things that could do with touch-up , namely the mountains.
  • GUI : It's a bit rough and could do with a touch up, graphically and in clarity. Some information is hidden or absent from the HUD entirely.
  • Performance : Fine
  • Music / Sfx :
    • Music : Fine
    • SFX : Fine
  • Gameplay : It feels slow and rather fiddly to do what you want.
  • Notes :
    • Combat basically boils down to rock, paper, scissors , but nothing seems to necessarily matter in that regard. Even if you have a noble "rock" against a normal "scissor" , it seems like the dice rolls aren't being influenced any (bad rng on my part?).
    • There just doesn't feel like there's any tactical or strategic complexity , at best you can build walls to slow down enemies. Why not forts or other defensive buildings to ensure a +1 minimum on a defense battle?
    • The map feels incredibly claustrophobic.
    • Not keen on the fractal pattern with the map.
    • It's nice that different nations get differing models.
    • The different nations don't really seem to have much to make them stand out from one another, what's here feels pretty minimal. (E.G. if Mongolia was a faction, +1 to all rolls on cavalry specifically.
    • "Viziers" are mentioned in certain areas but not others, is this inconsistency with "noble" usage?
    • It really feels like you're good to just use one type of soldier , especially once you get batch training.
    • The RNG feels very heavily rigged against the player.
  • Final Thoughts : Overall I'm not too keen on the game in it's current state, it's a bit slow, a bit rough around the edges and doesn't feel like there's much to do, it feels rather shallow on complexity. I feel like I'd like this a bit more of it was more akin to 'Risk' , especially in the late game when you might have a few dozen units, attacking individually is a bit of a pain.

Hi Altabestudio, I’ve updated the project disclosure. I chose human made because in the disclosures, it specifically referred to assets. 100% of the assets, text, and content in Kairos is human made, AI was used to assist programming only. Itch is the only platform asking for code specific disclosures right now which is why I went with that way

all good, thank you for the update.
