I managed to get the latest version of the game running (although not very usable yet :/) by using Distrobox. (assuming your problem has the same cause as mine, which it probably does, just in case, check your GLIBC version by using "ldd --version" in the terminal, if its <2.43 then that's most likely what's going on)
Install Distrobox. I used:
sudo apt install distrobox podman
and then run:
distrobox create --name choicer --image ubuntu:26.04 -p
(Set the name to whatever you want)
This creates an environment with a linux version that has the required library version for the game, then enter the environment with:
distrobox enter choicer
After that navigate to the path where the game is installed. (You might want to rename the folders and executable to remove the spaces)
Then open the game as you would
e.g.
./TheChoicerVoicer_0-5-3_standard.x86_64
The issue is that audio output and input do not work (IDK WHY). I've only figured this out but there should be a fix for this, possibly related to the Distrobox version. I might try later.
this might be an issue specific to my machine btw, try it out and see if it works fine.
