this isn't really meant as a dis against Arvus devs, but like.. if you (and other fans) are able to generate such quality images of the characters/scenes so easily... why does adding new content to the game take so long for them? I know you're using AI and they're not fully... but still. If it looks this good i wouldn't care if it was AI lol and idk why it takes so long. if they were doing what you are, we could get so much great content and wait half as long. it's weird how much your images are arguably better than the stuff in game. just my opinion

Easily.... 😭 each image I create is at least 2-3 hours of work. As mentioned in other posts, I only use Gen AI for the base models. I then trace and edit all elements. This is the same method as used within game. But when Kal is doing it he also has to factor in that there a 3-6 other CGs that need to be consistent with the sequence. Yes he is working on the official LoRas and Configuration so this eases the effort, but there is still manual work required for each CG.

And that’s just CGs. New content also means writing, coding the scene, UI, animations/transitions, consistency with existing routes, QA, and not shipping something that breaks saves or clashes with the rest of the game. A fan image can look “better” because it’s one hero shot with no production constraints. Official updates have to be a whole scene that actually plays.

We are getting all this and more in the next release, it obviously going to take ungodly hours for a solo developer:

Art / CGs

  • Full rework of every CG (1,000+)
  • New style across the board
  • Dynamic lighting so characters match each background

New / expanded content

  • New locations + new events in existing areas
  • New narrative for Alice, Norah, the Canyon, and more Emma cryptid-hunting
  • Anna: more love-route scenes to balance the slut route
  • Dr. Frost & Dr. Mura: new content
  • Leilani: new bust and design
  • Nurse Nina: visual overhaul + new scenes

Endings

  • Endings now depend on progression and choices (good and bad)
  • Pick one of 4 homes: forest, beach, skyscraper, mansion
  • Invite romanced/friended characters to move in
  • 1,000+ valid combinations with custom dialogue and slides (not every pairing is allowed)

Minigames

  • Tower Defense overhaul: 10+ new towers, dual upgrade paths (70+ variants), 20+ new bean-themed enemies
  • Most minigames give Love Points for Tasha’s shop
  • QoL / structure passes on most minigames

Tech

  • Character shaders react to scene lighting (pseudo-2D GI)
  • Shader system planned to be open-sourced later this year

Maybe a simple example will help for CGs alone.

When you are not working with LoRas, it is case of getting your prompts correct

Then there is backgrounds, tracing, shading, filters and lighting that all takes manual effort
