Description
This soundtrack has a runtime of 10 minutes and 10 seconds (excluding the sound effect), and it was made in FL Studio.
I made a much smaller soundtrack this time around, focusing more on the sound and less on the story!
I chose both the word and picture themes as my theme!
It took me a few days to come up with a story, and in the end I came up with multiple stories with a similar premise.
Along the way I also realised what kind of game this soundtrack would most likely be for: a top-down story and exploration game!
As for the story, I won't tell much, but I will tell you about the main character!
The main character is a historian who loves reading about this forgotten world, long thought to only be a fictious one. There is a popular place in the town she lives in that claims to be said world, although many historians have debunked this claim.
This place features a library with books about the world, so our historian is of course here quite often! One day, reading for a bit too much time, the historian falls asleep in the library — waking up somewhere unexpected. The real forgotten world!!
I'll keep the rest of the story a secret, as it's not done yet :D
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The first track represents the first thing our historian sees after waking up: a subalpine wildflower meadow!
This track is heavily inspired by the soundtrack of Ecco: Defender of The Future! I use it as an inspiration because that's the exact sound I imagined after seeing the picture theme, alongside a few pictures of wildflower meadows :)
The soundtrack was made by Tim Follin, and you should definitely give it a listen if you haven't :D
The second track would play in an area not too far away from the meadow; after crossing the river, our historian gets into a bogland!
Here's how I'd describe it:
The bogland – most likely the calmest place of this world, yet a total wilderness.
Going up from the bogland, our historian finds a forest protected by giant mushrooms!
But there's something strange about these mushrooms. The mushrooms know something we don't. They own this forest, this land, this world; yet as long as you're happy, they're happy too :D
The last track, Mountain Of A Thousand Skies, is the track that would play on said mountain :D
Now this happened a bit by accident, but the track makes me feel a sense of lightheadedness, which works very well as this is a very tall mountain :)
In the second half of the track, you might be able to hear church bells far in the distance!
The last file of this project is a sound effect I made during the jam, but it shouldn't be included in the rating, as it's just the sound effect used in the fourth track! :D
There are two themes that I didn't manage to finish in time: the church theme and the village theme!
I started working on both, but the church theme didn't really fit the vibe of the soundtrack, and the village theme I just didn't know how to continue :D
Message from the artist
HELLOO!! :D
I hope you had fun during this jam!
I wish you good luck, and a well-deserved break :)
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
The picture theme was used as inspiration for the sound of the soundtrack, while the text theme inspired the story of the world, as well as the ambient nature of the soundtrack :D

Great quality and very atmospheric, track 3 was my favourite. I hear the mushrooms talking and it is very satisfying
Thank you! :)
The mushrooms hear your satisfaction, and are satisfied as well… :D
I love how dreamy this is! I've been trying to figure out how to achieve this myself, having a lush dreamy ambient sound while keeping it interesting, but I haven't been very successful so far. I really like the instruments / VSTs you used here!
Thank you so much! :D
I wish you luck in achieving said dreaminess in your future music :)
I also wish you good luck in the jam!!
i really enjoyed this entry! the whole thing has a great dreamy atmosphere to it, well done!
Thank you!!
I'm glad you enjoyed my entry :)
I'm also glad that you mentioned the dreamy atmosphere, as the story is partly set within a dream :D
It’s really cool, the whole vibe has a soft nostalgic touch. I enjoyed it a lot; it's a pretty and cleanly mixed entry!
Good luck finishing the last tracks! (if you decide to do so)
Thank you so much! :D
I'm glad that the vibe has a nostalgic touch, as that's what I was going for 🥹
Oh and, I most likely will finish those tracks, just for a different project :D
