I have a soft spot for hidden object games, and this is a fun one. I played it on all three difficulty settings. I liked that you didn't just add new koalas as each level got harder, but also removed some. It gave a bit of a reward for playing the easiest difficulty. I found all the koalas without needing to use any hints, though was glad that I could zoom in and out. I also took advantage of the way the map would color in a section after I found all the koalas in it to help focus my search. It was particularly useful on the hardest setting, before the number of them left was shown, to let me know if I was missing any.
The art is simply delightful. There is so much life and character in it. While the focus is koalas, I love the amount of detail you put into all of it. From the humans, to the other animals, to the koalas, to even the environment itself, they all have so much personality. The hand-drawn style fits really well for this type of game, and you did it beautifully. The colors are really rich and vibrant, and it felt so good getting that last koala in a given area and seeing it fully come to life with all the color. The cutscenes are great. It was fun watching the picture come to life as it was being drawn.
The different dialog is cute. It matched the image of each koala well. I think it would have been nice if they would have cycled between the two different options each time you clicked on the koala, instead of just repeating the second one. It would have let me reread any that I found particularly fun, and make sure I didn't miss something if I clicked too fast or get distracted for a moment.
While I used zoom a fair bit, it did feel a little awkward at times. I kept wanting it to zoom in where my mouse cursor was, instead of in the middle of the screen. I think the time I had the biggest issues with it was during the tutorial, after it let you zoom in and out but before you could move the screen around. The first time I played, I wondered if I was doing something wrong, since it was only letting me focus in on one area.
The music started to feel a little repetitive. It fits the game well, but by the third time I played, I was getting a little tired of it.
All in all, this was an enjoyable game and I have added it to my Steam wishlist.
