I made an account just to praise this mod. The spritework is fantastic, even though armor sprites seem incomplete, but what really captured me in the end was the writing. I thought I'd just get a nice way to play demake as one of my favorite X characters with some basic script rewrites and some great sprites, but the writing is so phenomenally and concisely done and is so incredibly respectful and empowering of Vile's character and the kinds of ideas his existence stands for that after beating it I was left dumbfounded and had to come and leave this exact comment hailing it as wonderfully done.

In a world where writing in X fangames (and even in mainline games) often feels rather throwaway, this mod really stood out to me. Every interaction was a joy to read through and nothing felt off or out of place in the slightest. It adapts the kinds of things people often make fun of X8's writing for in ways that are actually engaging to read, thanks to how well Vile himself is done and how well he bounces off the mavericks themselves. It doesn't get trapped in pointless topics that don't matter to a good plot, which feels like it would've been easy to just give into for a mod like this. The ending was especially beautifully finished, and I still can't believe how concisely it was all wrapped up into the limited lines it has.

I highly recommend this mod and wish the creator good luck in refining it even further. As it stands right now, this is by far my favorite way to play "base" X8 Demake without intense gameplay additions. I look forward to the finished mod that Sam must have a vision for, gameplay changes and all. Fudging fantastic.

Thanks so much for your kind words! Maybe the nicest thing anyone's said about my work. Admittedly the project has stalled due to me getting a job and having a new baby, but the script meant a lot to me so I'm glad I could get that out and that you enjoyed it so much. (I also agree that lots of X fan games have crummy stories or dialogue... something I sought to challenge).

Wait is you Noelle?
