Rather than just telling the story through dialogue, the level design makes the temptation to sacrifice humanity genuinely appealing. *The Cost of Discipline* * By default, keeping the chain intact preserves the Prince's humanity, but the physical cost is steep. The player must endure sluggish movement, heavy gravity, and tedious tasks like slowly pushing the box across the 3-tile gap. Doing the right thing is intentionally designed to feel unrewarding and frustrating. *The Seduction of Freedom* * The golden shrines offer an immediate escape from this frustration. Breaking a chain link provides instant gratification—unlocking abilities like the Double Jump that make traversal fast, floaty, and incredibly fun.
