Pretty much a perfect cute fun little game. Slightly confusing as to when certain effects trigger but still easy enough to navigate through it. Really nicely polished over all aspects.

Great job!

Overall, this was a cute puzzle game. The level progression mostly felt good, though there were a few things I think could have been made a little clearer, which I detailed out below. I liked how different each cat type looked. It made it easy to tell them apart and associate the different abilities with each cat. It took me a bit to wrap my head around the way the directions worked with the isometric view, but I think that was more an issue on my end than on the game itself. The cats are absolutely adorable. I loved getting to pat them after placing them, and the little hearts were such a delightful touch.

Placing cats was confusing at times. I wanted to line up the cat with the box they were going in, instead of lining up the cursor. Due to the position of the cursor, the cats regularly looked like they should have gone into a lower box than they did. The way the boxes lit up also took some getting use to. It made sense to highlight the box that a cat was going to affect, but it overpowered the highlighting on the selected box. Once I got use to it, it was easier to work with, but it still wasn't particularly intuitive. I did like that hovering over a cat in a box showed what other boxes they would affect.

In the Bowls and Boxes level pack, it wasn't always clear which cats could go into bowls and which into boxes. Bowl Cat only going into bowls made sense, but it didn’t really make sense to me why Guard Cat could only go into bowls while Snobby Siamese and Scaredy Boy could only go into boxes. I really only noticed on the level 2-9, because I was trying to place cats into spots and it took me a while before it clicked that most could only go into one or the other.

It might be nice if you had mentioned that Blobby's duplication works after a new cat has been placed, and not when they are placed.

You may want to move the ending text to after you complete 3-9 instead of 2-9, since you currently have three level packs. I liked how you each level pack introduced new cats and focused on different cat mechanics, while still using cats from the previous packs.

The Cat O'Log was a wonderful touch. The flavor text on each cat was fun, and the extra text after completely the bonus levels was a nice additional reward.

I solved all the levels, including the bonus ones. There were a few that made me really stop and think to solve, but they never felt frustrating. The solutions were always logical once I understood the core mechanics of the provided cats. They were fun to solve, and I enjoyed playing the whole game.

Very cute and fun puzzle game! I really enjoyed my session. Noted some of my observations below:

  • To me, isometric perspective make it hard to follow for "diagonal"/"cardinal" orientation. Honestly, when I see the grid visual for brown cat, my brain was registering as cardinal, given the isometric-like perspectives of the boxes.
  • Black cat: the distinction of "new" neighbor was not clear to me on first glance. Since "cardinal" was colored that was what I focused on, following from brown cat. Maybe can color or bold the word "new", also maybe the lighting indicator of the affected boxes can have a different color than the red of existing neighbor.
  • Similarly for any new mechanics like loneliness. I feel color coding could aid player cognition, but lighting vfx in the affected boxes, and in the grid instruction on top left
  • You could consider adding visual warning for black cats already placed in boxes, when player is holding a new cat, like a danger zone.
  • I noticed that holding the undo button can either undo multiple moves or reset stage. It didn't feel natural to me when I want to undo more than 1 move but not reset stage. Hard to control exact number of moves.

Overall, keep up the good work! It has great potential as a cozy puzzle game!

On a different note, would much appreciate if you could also check out my game and share your thoughts :) It features a Tetris-like combat system that also rewards well-planned placement of pieces. Jam page

Hi skymanvn thank you for your kind feedback! I really love the warning zone idea and will definitely be looking into it thank you so much for the suggestion and will be looking into seeing if I can make the undo a little more intuitive!

I remember this adorable game from last year, as did many of my community members! :D   Overall, I enjoyed it very much.  The kitties are so cute, and I loved the little notepad in the corner showing each cat's preferences!

For some reason, fullscreen would not work for me (Windows 10 system, Chrome browser).  I tried with the options and with the X in the bottom corner.  I ended up pressing F11 just to make it bigger for OBS.  The audio sliders also were not working, so the music and game sounds were super quiet.

Other than that, I did sometimes have trouble dragging the cats to the box I wanted or differentiating the indicator color if a cat was already in a box.  That said, I love that you could mouse over a cat in a box to see which boxes it is affecting.

During my playthrough, I finished level 1 and started level 2.  I for sure had to think through how to solve some of the placements, which made for a fun challenge!  I really hope you plan to put this on desktop someday :)

I'm sorry that you encountered issues i'll definitely take a look into what is going on thank you for your reports! And will definitely be a desktop version up soon :)

Your VOD gameplay from last year helped the game so much! I can't wait to get some free time to run through this new one.

The art is really cute and the concept is pretty solid! Just sometimes the game doesn't select the box you want easily, but I like the game in general. Also, my own cat went crazy with the game's SFX!

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your kind words! Will definitely do a pass on the box selection to see if I can make it a little easier.

Adorable artstyle! Love the sound effects from the little meows to the purring when you tap and hold on their heads!

Pretty nice puzzle game. Nothing really outstanding it's just a puzzle game. maybe a bit more effects to spice the game up a bit and maybe make the placing of cats more satisfying. I feel it gets boring really quickly. it's like a mobile game you play when you have nothing else to do. maybe that's what you're going for.
