I've made it to the part where you have to find the right kitten in the room — still haven't guessed the right one yet :)
The opening definitely made me want to keep playing. I was mainly curious to see how the game's core idea would develop further, so I had no problem staying interested and wanting to continue.
The concept of fixing bugs in an unfinished RPG also becomes clear pretty quickly. After a while, I actually stopped thinking about it as a separate concept because it blends so naturally into everything that's happening around you. So I'd say the unfinished, buggy RPG idea definitely works!
The shift in tone didn't feel abrupt to me either. Interestingly, I started feeling a more serious undertone pretty early on, rather than seeing the game as purely comedic from the beginning — but that wasn't a problem at all. The transition felt natural to me.
Really interesting concept so far! I'll keep playing and hopefully figure out which kitten I'm looking for :)
