The game is really hard because too much enemy, so the way for beat this game is first leveling up until got melee direction upgrade, so its easy to beat much enemy, then the second upgrade is speed up so it can move faster. Just with the 2 upgrade I can finish this game.

Still, it's a good game, but just hard to fight back at the beginning :v

It was difficult at first but after knowing the trick to level up quickly and getting lots of power up makes the game so much fun!

Thanks for playing!

Definitely tough at first. But once I learned to just face tank the pumpkins and out DPS them, I got upgrades and became super strong :)

I got about 1000 score just messing around - this definitely has a lot of potential

One thing I would recommend is to consider adding more feedback to player actions! This could be any or all of the following:

  • Enemy Flash red on hit
  • Particle effects on enemy hit
  • Sound on enemy hit
  • Enemy Animation when die
  • Enemy knockback on hit
  • Particles on attack
  • Player flash red on hit
  • Ooh and an animation on the Attack Sprite - You should check out AnimationPlayer node in godot and try animating the scale. Or check out Tweens to make the same scale animation. Godot has alot of options for adding awesome JUICE!

While these may not be easy, they can really add heaps to the experience!

Thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah we had to rush a lot of the visual side of things but I will definitely try to add some of these, especially some animations. Knockback is also a good idea right now the enemies swarm the player really easily and I think that will give the player more options than just running away. Thanks again! (:

Love the art work but the one directional attack makes it hard to attack the pumpkins. Also, I realized the pumpkins deals more damage than the player.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Some of the attack hitboxes were a bit scuffed I’ll admit but there are upgrades to hopefully make it easier

There are, indeed a LOT of pumpkins !!  I'm really bad or the game is a bit unbalanced ^^'

First option, fight: I cannot fight and run because the attack area depends on the character's direction so I stay in place, spamming attacks as much as possible but quickly take more damage than I kill ennemies.
Second option, run: I try to avoid pumpkins and keep running without attacking them, quickly a have a whole train of ennemies behind me and they push each others hitboxes so they catch me up and feed me to death.
Third option, run again: but the few enemies coming upfront slow me down and I'm again fed to death.
Fourth option, fight again: I noticed I earn xp when I killed ennemies, so I try to complete the exp bar and see what happens. I take too much damage to get a chance to complete the mission but I see the skill selection, one is to spot scrolls easier (better vew range I guess) and the other is a wider attack area.
I tried each options multiple times but I ran out of ideas.

Genuinely asking, did you manage to finish the game without knowing where the scrolls are in advance ?

Developer

Yeah honestly I made the enemies deal way too much damage compared to the score you get from killing them.. I have managed to beat the game a couple times so it is possible but it solely relies on gaining enough xp in time (spamming space as much as possible tbh) and being lucky enough by getting a few op upgrades (Melee directions is good since it allows you to attack both in front and behind, and eventually in a circle around you). You can usually gain enough time by picking the option to gain more score in the 'shop' to view the screen again to 'reroll' your upgrades.

Sorry about the balancing aspect (we didn't have the time to properly test everything), but thank you for trying my game!

It's part of jamming don't worry ^^ Alright! I'll give it another try to see if I can get a bidirectional attack and move further :)
