Thank you so much for creating this masterpiece. I’ve been looking for a game like this for a very long time, and I finally found it.

I was always searching on Steam, itch.io, and other platforms for games focused on trading, world exploration, and trade routes where these mechanics were truly core to the gameplay loop. I could easily list about 10 other games I played with that expectation, only to realize they weren't quite what I was looking for. As an aspiring developer, I even started a few prototypes to create this kind of game myself, but my ideas were always missing something. In Horizon's Gate, I found exactly what I was missing!

I’ve never been a huge fan of tactical RPGs, but now I’m practically ready to buy your other games (just waiting for a sale, haha). You broke that barrier so smoothly—the combat never feels tedious, and being able to interact with the environment during battles is an incredible touch.

I only have two achievements left out of the 19, and I’ll be completing them soon. I haven't even finished the game yet, but I'm already starting to feel nostalgic for all the hours I've put into it, knowing that once it's over, I'll need a new playthrough to experience it again.

I noticed there's mod support, though I haven’t explored it much yet. I hope it lets me spice up a new run, though it seems more focused on characters rather than map/exploration, which was what I was mainly looking for.

Do you have any plans for a Horizon's Gate 2? Even though I don't pay in USD, if you ever launch a Kickstarter or something similar, I’ll definitely find a way to contribute. This is easily in my top 5 games of all time, mostly because it delivered everything I always wanted in a game but could never find.

Since I don't use Twitter and couldn't find another way to reach out, I'm leaving this message here. I hope to see more updates for the game, or maybe a new version with a bigger map, more quests, and more enemies—even if it reuses the original codebase just to give us more content and hours to play, haha!

Either way, thank you so much for this game, and best of luck with your future developments!

Hey, thanks so much! It's great that you enjoyed the game even without being big into Tactical RPGs - I always hoped the combat wouldn't push away people who are there for the sailing.

I don't recommend it for the first, but you should definitely check out the mods for your second playthrough! Some of them are so impressive and there's a lot of new locations and questlines that could spice up the exploration a bit. The modders do an incredible job.

I 100% plan to make HG2 someday! It's not my next game, but I'm always brainstorming for it and improving the engine for it.

I hope you keep experimenting with prototypes, the world needs more good sailing games!

I started something a while back, and now I’m excited to keep going. Since the turn-based combat system is very complex, I’m going to try to simplify the battles and focus the game on exploration, resource gathering, and trade—both by land and by sea.
I started making small games in my spare time, and I’ve really been enjoying it. If you need any help—however modest—with HG2, I’d be happy to assist.

Ooh, that looks sick! The aesthetic is really charming. Best of luck with it.
And thanks! I'll keep that in mind if I need HG2 playtesters someday.
