Theme Implementation
I wanted to make a garden that you have to look after in more ways than one. You clear space, plant flowers, help them grow with compost, and harvest them to expand your garden. At night, some of your plants help defend the others, so what you grow and where you plant it both matter.
Special Object addition
The shovel is the tool you use most throughout the game. You use it to dig planting spots, clear weeds and stumps, harvest flowers, and move plants around. I wanted it to be part of the whole gardening process, from preparing your first patch to rearranging an established garden.
What tools and 3rd party assets did you use?
I built the game in Python with pygame-ce, used VS Code for development, and pygbag for the browser version. I drew the pixel art in Pixilart. The sound effects and ambience come from the Sonniss GDC Game Audio Bundles, with the individual creators listed in the in-game credits.
How did you use generative AI?
I used AI tools to assist with automating coding tasks, debugging, and rapid prototyping.
