Hello, I recently joined the jam as thought it would be a good exercise and after reading through the rules, there is something I'm not quite clear on: the use of previously made assets.
In the rules, I found the following wording:
"The game you submit must be a new project created specifically for this jam. You may reuse your own existing assets, such as artwork, music, backgrounds, code, or other resources, as long as you own the rights to use them."
I always draw my own assets, but I take this to mean that I can use sprites and backgrounds and music that I have made for preivous projects so long as the story and game build itself are unique to this jam. Am I correct about this?
If so, what would the rules be if the assets are tied to a greater "universe"? Would it be acceptable to write a new story just for this jam within that universe (unique story but worldbuilding can carry over from other projects in that universe) or does it have to be a brand-new universe along with the story?
Sorry for the loaded questions, I just wanted to address this beforehand!
