Love is Blind!

(Love the cult I mean.)

Cohesive and very appendix N.

Clear layout and a really interesting boss battle.

Great work.

Masterclass monster design, and everything else nicely crafted.

Nice use of the journal/thoughts on the first page to set the mood, and then referencing two of the characters in the dungeon. The Horror's nature as a construct just trying to survive gave me Frankenstein's monster vibes. I really like the bullets that pull double duty. I might steal that.

The titular monster plus the black ichor make this very memorable and seems like it would be a blast to run! I love the use of the different bullet points to highlight the different kinds of features in each room. Definitely adding this to my list of adventures to run in the future!

Great vibes and tight module!

A few favorite things:

  • Inclusion of SD mutations
  • An epic and intriguing titular monster
  • The idea of a lost civilization powered by ebony ichor

I was surprised that the Codex phrase only earns players 1 round of an incapacitated Horror, if any, but I suppose it is Level 12!

“A horrific abomination to most, an angel to some, in reality a nigh-sentient artifice of a bygone era.” Very cool!

Appreciate it! I think 1 round is plenty of time to either escape or do significant damage to it, and it can work multiple times as long as it fails the check. If it would be d4 rounds for example I feel it could make the encounter too easy.

Ah, since it's reusable, that would definitely make sense! Great work!

Love the dungeon map. Always a fan of verticality even in small dungeons. Great original art and cover design too! Solid module!

This is a very nice dungeon with an inherent logic, why everything is there (which I always like). I really appreciate the little backstory the players could discover - whatever happened to Mariel? They are not accounted for? - possibly turning this into a rescue mission.

What I miss is as reason for the group to go in there, but that might be my “Please hold my hand”-5e-brain there :)

Littlelest nitpick: It is the heart pumping blood, not the blood vessels.

The vein thing is true, it will be on my changes list.

The possible hooks are implied in the rumors. They might be searching for precious ancient artifacts, the ichor, the missing explorers, or any other reason!

Oh and Mariel is the body down the pit trap

Really nice theming here and I love how straight you’ve played “horrifying monster in dungeon, cult forms because of how horrifying this thing is.” I mean, I’d believe it was a celestial, too. Great stuff.

Very evocative final boss. Players aren't likely to forget an encounter with THAT. Nice job!

Man that boss hits like a truck, 3 hits + a far 3d6 at +7 every round? TPK or what. Anyway, this is great. Some genuinely slick ideas in a nice presentation. I love that close fires heal him and goes out. Permanent blindness for con check roll of 5 is 100% shadowdark brutal. I think my favourite feature here though has to be how you leveraged the mutations table from shadowdark core rules and used an icon to tell us how many to roll. Very clever, I’m gonna steal that.

I love how the title has been used here - a module based around a big bad monster always warms my heart, none less than an incandescent one!

Cultists are used nicely here, and the various interactions that interact with the horror are pretty cool!

Love the setup and the cultist's misunderstandings. Enjoy the verticality element as well!

Very cool monster and great interpretation of the prompt!

Very aesthetic and well put together!
