Hello! We are looking for a 3D artist who can both create game-ready models and animate them for our first indie game, currently using the working title CelestiX. The name is not final and will most likely change as development progresses.
CelestiX is a third-person dark-fantasy action roguelike with challenging melee combat in low-poly style, fixed playable heroes with unique abilities, procedurally assembled floors, and a system where players risk losing part of their collected equipment after death. The full game is planned to support both solo play and online co-op for up to four players. A complete run is intended to last approximately 30–60 minutes.
We are currently focusing on a manageable vertical slice rather than attempting to create the entire game immediately. Our first milestone will feature two playable heroes, a small selection of regular enemies, one elite enemy, and one boss. It should demonstrate the core combat system, atmosphere, individual character roles, and cooperation between the two heroes.
Our current team consists of four people:
-
I am responsible for game design, worldbuilding, characters, mechanics, documentation, and general project direction.
-
Our programmer is responsible for gameplay systems and technical implementation.
-
Our concept artist creates character concepts and other 2D visual material.
-
Our designer and composer helps develop the game’s visual direction and creates music.
The main missing role is a 3D artist who can turn our concepts into functional game assets and animate them.
Your work would include:
-
Creating 3D models of playable characters and enemies from concepts and references
-
Creating weapons, equipment, and environmental props
-
Retopology, UV mapping, and preparing models for use in the game
-
Rigging characters and creatures
-
Creating movement, combat, dodge, ability, hit-reaction, stun, and death animations
-
Helping us establish a consistent visual style that remains achievable for a small indie team
-
Cooperating with the concept artist, designer, and programmer to make sure assets work correctly in-game
Professional industry experience is not required. We are open to someone who is still developing their skills and wants to build a serious portfolio project. However, you should be able to show some examples of your 3D modeling or animation work, even if they are personal, educational, or unfinished projects.
This is currently an unpaid revenue-share collaboration. There is no upfront salary. Revenue percentages, ownership of contributed work, expected workload, and other conditions will be discussed clearly before long-term production begins. We understand that the complete game is ambitious, so our immediate priority is creating a focused and playable vertical slice.
PORTFOLIO: this is my first project and do not have a portfolio of any kind
We do, however, have a game design document, extensive worldbuilding material, gameplay systems, character concepts, and a defined development plan that we can share privately.
