Pay attention to their temperature tolerances. Foxes can't stand equatorial heat. I had a fox/dinosaur planet in careful balance, driven by the foxes preferring the poles while the dinos prefered the heat... Until the foxes nuked the whole planet to be rid of their non-competing neighbors. Oops, ice age. Bad end.
