Hey everyone! I am building ALIEN: Signal Lost, and I would love to meet a few people interested in casually developing it with me.
The game is already playable here:
https://alien-signal-lost.onrender.com/
WHAT IS ALIEN: SIGNAL LOST?
It is a free browser-based sci-fi survival shooter where you pilot a ship against escalating alien waves. Play solo or team up in online co-op, earn XP, improve your weapons, and customize your ship. The vibe is dark space atmosphere, neon interfaces, and cinematic music.
WHAT IS ALREADY BUILT?
- Solo play and online co-op for up to four players, with a host lobby and ready-up flow.
- Keyboard/mouse, controller, and mobile touch controls.
- Power-ups, Nova bombs, selectable starting levels, and optional mission modifiers.
- An XP-based hangar with weapon upgrades, ammo modules, ship customization, loadout presets, and a firing range.
- Signal Exchange: spend earned XP on cosmetic rewards, with more pages unlocked by lifetime XP.
- A soundtrack player with local music import and twelve cinematic backgrounds that transition with the selected music mood.
- Pause/settings menus, visual themes, graphics options, and controller haptics.
THE PROJECT
The game uses JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Canvas, with a Node.js/WebSocket backend for co-op. It is hosted on Render. Development so far has been AI-assisted, including code and some artwork. There is a working foundation to try and build on, and plenty of room for polish, balancing, and better systems.
WHO I WOULD LOVE TO WORK WITH
- JavaScript developers interested in gameplay, browser performance, or multiplayer networking.
- Artists/UI designers interested in ships, aliens, effects, and sci-fi interfaces.
- Musicians or sound designers who enjoy atmospheric space audio.
- Playtesters and game designers who enjoy balancing survival games and giving useful feedback.
You do not need to cover everything. Helping with one small feature, an enemy design, a sound, or a focused testing session would be a great start.
HOW I WANT TO COLLABORATE
I am looking for a relaxed, spare-time team: share ideas, pick manageable tasks, communicate honestly, and improve the game together. We can discuss availability, scope, credit, and any compensation expectations before anyone starts contributing. No promises of revenue or a big studio launch -- I want to find people who enjoy the project and see where we can take it.
INTERESTED?
Try the game, then reply here or join the Discord:
Tell me what you like working on, roughly how much time you would want to contribute, and one thing you would improve or add. Links to past work are welcome, but enthusiasm and clear communication matter too.
Thanks for checking it out. Let us build something fun together!
