Hey everyone,
I'm an indie game developer looking for a 2D pixel artist to join an ongoing top-down arena fighting game project built in Godot.
The game is already playable, with a substantial portion of its core gameplay implemented. I'd estimate the overall development progress at roughly 50%, although the visual side still needs a lot of work.
I'm looking for someone who wants to help turn an existing, working game into something visually consistent and ready for an eventual Steam release.
Current Gameplay Preview
The video shows actual gameplay from the current development build.
I've also included screenshots below so you can get a better look at the game without having to leave this post.

The visuals are still placeholders and works in progress. That's exactly why I'm looking for an artist.
About the Game
The project is a 2D top-down arena fighter built around characters with unique abilities, different playstyles, and team-based combat.
The game supports different team configurations, including 1v1, 3v3, and larger team battles.
A substantial amount of the gameplay is already implemented, including:
- Character movement and combat.
- Unique character abilities and ultimates.
- Projectiles, damage, and status effects.
- Healing and support mechanics.
- Round-based combat and match progression.
- In-game UI and other core systems.
I'm handling the programming and game design myself, and the project is actively being developed.
The goal is an eventual Steam release.
What I'm Looking For
I'm looking for someone who can help with the visual side of the game, particularly:
- 16×16 pixel art characters.
- Eight-directional character sprites.
- Idle, movement, and attack animations.
- Character-specific ability animations.
- Additional pixel art assets and visual effects when needed.
- Establishing a consistent visual style across the game's characters.
You don't need to be a professional pixel artist.
A beginner or intermediate artist who can create good, readable pixel art is absolutely welcome.
The characters are relatively small, but there are multiple directions and quite a few animations to account for. The work isn't necessarily about drawing highly detailed sprites — it's about creating a lot of consistent, readable animations.
I'd like to find someone who is comfortable contributing creatively to the project, discussing character designs, and working independently once we've agreed on the requirements.
We can start with one character, establish a visual direction, and expand from there.
About Me
I've been developing games for around two years and have already published four projects on itch.io.
This is my most ambitious project so far, and I'm working toward making it a complete, polished game.
You can check out my previous work here:
My itch.io portfolio:

I can also share more gameplay footage, character concepts, existing sprites, and development details privately on Discord.
Compensation — Revenue Share
I want to be upfront about this:
I cannot offer upfront payment. This is a revenue-share collaboration, not a paid commission.
I'm open to discussing a fair share of the game's revenue based on the artist's contribution and the amount of work involved.
We can discuss the specific percentage, payment terms, and scope of the collaboration privately on Discord before agreeing to anything.
There is no guaranteed payment unless the game generates revenue.
I'm looking for someone who's genuinely interested in contributing to an indie game and wants to help shape its visual identity.
Interested?
Feel free to leave a comment or contact me directly on Discord.
If possible, please share a few examples of your pixel art or a link to your portfolio. Character sprites and animations would be particularly useful to see.
