I'll say this: it scared me a lot. I really don't like horror games. Someone suddenly screams or someone starts talking in your ear, ASMR, with a voice like that, and all that. So, most of the time, I just sat in a random house and hid. I quickly ran out of ammo and there was no reload. At least, I didn't find one. Well, I couldn't restore the ammo in any way, so I sat and hid, afraid of every rustle. But the atmosphere in the game is relatively good, by the way. Of course, it's not a super game, but it's good at the demo level. I died from invisibility, which is most likely a bug, and in principle, I can't really say anything else because of my strong fear. Sorry, but still. Great job.
First I had problems with Firefox and my mouse (sometimes turning right did not work any more, weird), then I tried with Brave (other browser). Activating FULLSCREEN in the settings really makes things much better, too.
The game is not for me, I don't like horror and survival not so much, and this is obviously ideal for a multiplayer evening. Even though not for me, I gave it a try (story mode), sat myself in a dark room, pushed up the volume, enjoyed the silence and dark wandering (NOT)... and nearly shit my pants and had my heart explode. Man, this is intense. So, honestly well made. I would like it to have more clues and not having to rely on searching and being found only. I sometimes saw the silhouette of the Wendigo, but tried to follow slowly was never possible. Should I stay calm and watch and see the silhouette again? Never happened like that. Instead it suprised me at my back. Searching a crate never ever gave me something. Maybe I have to search more like, say, 8 crates? Is ammo only lying around (if your lucky) or do you find it in crates, too? I wonder.
I guess for the multi-player game this is already providing some fun. I guess it could also be extended by adding more elements. I personally would like to have more strategy inside, but maybe for the multi-player horror that is not needed or not even wanted. Not my tea, I don't know. Anyway, well done.
cool game nice to play
I'll start by saying while I do sometimes enjoy psychological horror, I don't like jump scares. They can work sometimes, but overall, I find they take away more than they add to a game.
I played on the web using the Vivaldi browser on Linux. There was a bit of a delay when I first started and when first loading into the game, but the game itself ran smoothly. Some of the text didn't show properly, which sometimes happens when the text uses a font made of special characters instead of icons and doesn't include the font in the game. Generally I find this when the game is using a Window's system font that isn't installed on other OSes.
I really liked have the compass at the top of the screen. I have gotten lost many times when playing first-person 3D games, so being able to look up at the compass really helped me keep my bearings. The controls felt pretty good; looking around felt smooth and easy to control and movement worked well. It didn't give me a headache, which sometimes happens when I try playing this style of 3D game.
The atmosphere was creepy. Even before the first howl, I had that feeling of something wasn't right. I kept stopping to look in all directions before continuing forward. The 'help me' whisper had me both wanting to go try to find and help the person and wanting to run as far and as fast as I could away from there. I was really getting into it, until the volume jumped when the Wendigo showed up, charging at and attacking me. The volume difference was so sharp between that and everything else, that my first reaction was to pause the game and turn my volume down before trying to do anything else. I know that it is common for horror games to have sudden loud sounds as part of the experience, but the difference in volume was enough to pull me out of the game and want to stop playing.
I think you have a good game here. I just wish the volume was a little more normalized.
I appreciate the feedback!
The game wasn't intended for a web release is why some of those issues occurred with font, the web port was hastily made haha.
The volume has been a back and forth adjustment. I am hard at hearing so makes it a little difficult to judge. I'll keep tweaking it before the official release on steam!
Depending on what you are using for your audio, you might be able to find a tool that can visually show audio levels. Many music players and audio editors have visualizers that can show this kind of information.
