You can die to the boss when its in its death animation which I did accidentally to the second boss.
Gameplay was fun, and liked the part where when it went to a new scene it would do this alternating thing with the colours as if it was loading it in.

How does your game meet GBJam's theme
I depicted "old gold" as a metaphor for the economic system's evolution, with a focus on an inflection point from history serving as metaphor: gold being smuggled inside hollow wooden saint images, and how such a thing more or less signified the advent of a new age and, subsequently, a "new God."
