I found this game really funny. I expected to fight the people I first encountered but instead got immersed in a great story and what seems to be a detective adventure. I was really shocked when the cute NPCs turned out to be like actual monsters when I talked to them.  I hope y'all keep on working on the game!

Developer

Our goal was absolutely to give the vibe of the GBC port of *Dragon Warrior*, and then bait and switch into a detective story.

The initial premise really hooked me. Once I talked to the skeleton and then the blob, I suspected something was up with what, on the surface, looks like a classic GB dungeon crawler.

There’s a lot of good humour here and I really liked how it kept subverting my expectations. The art and overall polish are great too.

I do wish the conversation/combat section had been implemented, because I feel like the final product would have been hilarious.

Very fun - Ace Attorney meets Shin Megami Tensei. Top notch.

Developer

I intend to go back an implement the dialog. We had a scenario drafted out, but did not get to implementing it.

Our programmer was grumbling about limitations of GBStudio, since every time they thought of a way to approach the Press option, it required C language features that GBStudio obfuscates away.

Never trust a Warlock when paper contracts are involved, even the small dialog we got from his was enough to make him the prime suspect!

Any plans on implement the last parts of the gem after the jam is done?
This really has a solid skeleton of a game, what ye folks have made is really neat!

Developer(+2)

I can't speak for the rest of the team, but I intend to go back and finish the dialogue last little bits of the game.

Very good concept unfortunately i can guess that you ran out of time because no dialogue during the investigation talking to everyone. concept, music and pixel art are very great :)

The concept is so fun! Such a shame you didn't manage to finish it. I laughed about an idea of the hero finding an already slain dragon and being a detective instead. The slime sprite is so great.

Even though it's incomplete, the level of polish in what is there is super impressive for the time you had. I love the concept and the visuals are great.

Developer(+1)

I'm hoping to go back and implement the last of the programming and dialogue without the crushing pressure of under ten hours left in the jam. Will link to the final version from its page should that happen

gl! I would def check out a finished version if you end up releasing it

I love the idea behind this one, and I genuinely think its completed state would have been a lot of fun! A lot of the enjoyable elements are present even in the barebones, with the subversion of "slaying the dragon", the use of the "but thou must" trope, and all the dry humor to be found in what's available. The graphics make very good use of shading and I think it conveys everything well, and the music has the right theming and tone. It feels a lot more like a game that could have been a real Gameboy release as opposed to a more retrospective looking game.

I hope I get to see this idea fully realized, and you should be proud of the progress you made!
