Fully custom art, sound, online service and engine? This is really high effort and it pays off, well done. The only real criticism I could level is that the text at the bottom often disappeared faster than I could read it--maybe it would've been good to have a scrolling message system, or fewer messages overall.

I can't rate the game because it wouldn't launch :(

Developer

I’m really sorry you weren’t able to launch the game. It uses a custom engine, and I’m doing my best to make sure it works across as many PCs and setups as possible. Since I’m working on it alone, though, it can be difficult to test every hardware and software configuration.

You could try using a different browser or updating your current one to see if that helps. If you’re willing to help me investigate, could you also share your GPU model and the browser you were using?

Really great game! The art was striking, especially the shift to and fro from white outlines to black outlines. The layered music really worked with the overall experience, and the swap between keys when shifting into whitehole mode was amazing. And agar.io gameplay is always a hit with me. Awesome work!

I remember you from Uplifting Game Jam! You built this engine right?

The game is overall pretty neat. We enjoyed the progression and the palette used however the holding the click seems not to work as intended.

Overall a nice game!

Yep, I was in this jam. Thanks!

Nice music, feedback and gameplay in general. In overall good job!

Fun arcade style game, I love the dithering around the edge of the black hole. At some point though, the palettes for white and black holes seemed to switch which was confusing.

The art was nice, the gameplay was smooth and the leaderboard is a fun addition!

This is hard for me... I can hardly say anything bad about it, because I love these types of games. You've made beautiful graphics and an awesome soundtrack.
But the background was a little bit confusing to me... But that's only because of the jam limitations. So, your game is awesome. You've done a great job.

Thank you, that means a lot! I'm really glad the soundtrack landed, it was written just for this game. You're right about the background. With only two colours, the far stars, the dust and the things you can eat all share the same ink, so it can get busy. Thanks a lot for playing!

Very cool game! I really like the effects and the progression. I found a bit confusing the "hold click control", did not seem to do anything. I enjoyed!

Developer

Thanks a lot, happy you enjoyed the progression! And good catch on the hold click, it's too subtle right now. Holding it makes your pull much stronger, so things fall in faster and from further away. It also costs a little mass and bar, which is why it can feel like nothing happens. It pays off when something big is just out of reach. I'll make it far more visible after the jam.
