Really enjoyed it! Advanced wooden stick gameplay.

Pretty big world for a jam game! The sprite and tile work look great too

Developer

Thanks! I have a way of biting off more than I can chew 🥲 but I appreciate the kind words! Maybe next time I can narrow my scope a bit to make something a bit more finished.

The sprite and tile work is top notch! I think the engine you have built is expressive and responsive. The loash are an amusing creature as well. That being said, I would have liked to see some more gameplay mechanics.

Thank you for playing and I appreciate the feedback! What kind of things do you think you would have liked to see mechanic wise? i had planned on making an Inn to save and heal, as well as maybe a shop to buy armor and foods and such, but unfortunately ran out of time. Turns out making a game by yourself is quite taxing 🥲

I'll have to check your game out when I get home!

I bet its quite taxing! I'd love to see some more spells and enemies, maybe a boss!

There's so much to do in this game! You definitely put a lot of time into level design and it shows. I think the combat is nicely balanced, where the range of your magic is short enough that you have to get dangerously close to the monsters, with a path long enough to challenge the player's stamina. Some notes:

  • Even if it's just a "you won" screen, there should be some kind of win state. The guard thanking me for playing the demo doesn't quite feel the same.
  • I was really excited that there were even menu options with a rebind mechanic, but it doesn't seem to work. I tried inputting WASD and swapping J and K, but a lot of keys didn't seem to have a binding at all, and both S and J ended up inputting up I believe.
  • It would be nice to have a use for the coins you collect, even if it's something insignificant like a score display.
  • I notice that if you get a game over, the text on the main menu shifts left and gets cut off against the screen.

I had a lot of fun with this one, and the music was particularly enjoyable. Great job!

I did want to add an ending screen but I ran out of steam and just needed some sleep so I did what I could with what I had.

as for the input thing, I didn't notice until part way in that the way I was checjing for inputs is handled differently in HTML, causing it to not function properly. It worjs fine in the windows version though 🥲

As for the text at the menu, I guess I never quite noticed that happen, I must have missed that condition but I know exactly how to fix it 🫠

Thank you for checking out the game, and for the feedback! I'll have to check yours out when I get home!

I'm really impressed by the expansive world you built here in such a short amount of time. The artstyle is great as well, this looks really good. My only bit of feedback would be that sometimes it can be difficult to tell what things can be walked over and which can't. But I understand it's difficult to make that distinction with such a limited palette. Overall though this was a great entry, nice job!

The color restrictions did pose a lot of problems for sure and that was the main one I noticed. I tried a lot of things to solve the issue but eventually figured it would be best to move on for now. Thank you for playing and thank you for the feedback! I'll check your game out when I get home!
