How does your game meet GBJam's theme
Our game connects to the jam’s secondary theme, “Old Gold,” through its story. In a post-apocalyptic world ruled by machines, humanity has almost completely disappeared. The last Sentinel ever created to search for humans awakens after years of inactivity and begins following the few traces they left behind, collecting memories and objects that might help him understand what it truly means to be human.
At the end of his journey, after uncovering these fragments of the past, he finds a child hidden in a shelter, seemingly the last human alive. In that sense, the “Old Gold” of our story is humanity itself: something almost lost, incredibly rare, and more precious than anything left in the world.

There is so much fantastic stuff here that it makes we wish it came together more. The characters are charming, and the art + animation is fantastic! The nu-retro soundtrack captures the search for meaning quite well.
While it's not intrinsically bad, I don't think the protagonist jittering in the middle of the screen while in mid-air meshes well with the high-fidelity art. It made it hard to look at where I am at times.
All-in-all, great work! 💚
I really liked the art and though the gameplay was interesting. It did feel a little clumsy targeting and attacking enemies, but maybe I just didn't spend enough time practicing. Good entry!
A Really good entry! I like the artstyle. The gameplay is good but the controls feel a little unresponsive(also it is just me but i always hate the up button jumping). Other than that the gameplay is really good!
The interpretation of the game is interesting, also i like the robot's design. Its cute
this is really good! love the graphics, especially the animations! the music and gameplay are fantastic too. i also really love the concept of the robot collecting memories of humanity after we’re gone. great interpretation of the theme!
the drilling dash moves are super cool also, i just wish they were a little easier to pull off and combo while in air. maybe i’m just not good, but i felt like i had to let go of a direction and then double tap it and press the attack button all together in order to get the dash to work.
i tried playing a few times, but didn’t get super far so i’m sad that i didn’t get to see more of the game. i think i found 3 items and then i got lost and couldn’t figure out where else i needed to explore and then i was killed and gave up. i’ll have to revisit it at a later time hopefully. i would have loved to have a checkpoint system that lets you continue from the last item you collected.
i think the only other thing that is lacking is some nice sound effects to really give the game the oomph it deserves, but even without them you all did an amazing job. well done!
Thank you so much for such a detailed and kind comment! <3
It’s a shame you couldn’t reach the end. The level design ended up being much larger than we originally expected, and unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to implement the checkpoint system or the navigation tools we had planned to help players avoid getting lost. Time really got us there haha.
The same happened with the SFX. We had them planned, along with some additional music, but they ended up being left out because we ran out of time.
We’re already planning to continue working on the game and add many of the things that were left unfinished. We’ll definitely take your feedback, and the rest of the community’s feedback, into account as we improve it. Thank you again for playing! <3
yeah, a lot of things didn’t make it into our game either. it’s just kind of the nature of a game jam lol. i’m looking forward to playing future updates of the game!
This is a very polished game. I think the visuals are the best part, they are very good, and the color palettes are excellent. The gameplay is nice, if a bit aimless. I died and didn't respawn, so I had to manually restart. Great job!
Thank you so much for the kind words, especially about the art and color palettes! :)
And sorry about the respawn issue. We had a checkpoint system planned, but unfortunately we didn’t manage to implement it before the deadline TT
Thanks a lot for playing! <3
The pixel art is so freaking good. I kept playing just to look at it. The drill animation is also extremely good, and the 4-colour palette was used really well.
So far this is up there as one of my favorite entries I've played. I also love a good platformer, and this has a lot going for it. I really hope you keep working on it after the jam.
Also, the main character reminds me of a cross between a Big Daddy and an apple.
Aaaah, thank you so much!! <3 It makes us really happy to hear that you enjoyed the game that much, especially the pixel art and animations.
We had never thought about Bipbi looking like a mix between a Big Daddy and an apple hahaha, but now that you mention it… you’re actually kind of right xD
And yes, we’re already talking about continuing development after the jam, so hopefully there will be more to see in the future. Thank you again! <3
I agree that I really like the secondary theme interpretation. I feel like the basic concept is exactly on point with the themes of nostalgia that is gamboy+old gold. And the mood + story fit right in with that.
Also the art is amazing, it feels really authentic and alive, there are so many seemless details that make it gorgeous, congrats !
I just didn't get the s+k binding for the shield (why not just k ?), I have an AZERTY keyboard and the game has binding on virtual keys not physical ones so I can play with WASD (ZQSD for me) so I have to play with arrows and arrows + S + K is pretty much impossible.
Thank you so much for your comment! <3 We put a lot of effort into making the game look and feel as polished and beautiful as we could within the jam time, so we’re really happy you enjoyed the art and atmosphere.
And sorry about the controls! We originally planned to add more abilities using the K key, which is why the shield ended up with that combination, but we didn’t have enough time to rethink and polish the control scheme before submitting.
We’ll definitely keep your AZERTY keyboard feedback in mind when we improve the controls in the future. Thanks again! <3
This is the first game reviewed so far that I can't help but give full marks for everything!!! This is an incredibly sweet, delightful, and charming game. The story warms my heart and has one of the best interpretations of old gold. The mechanics are so incredibly in-depth, especially the moment you start digging. The soundtrack used exudes the action and charm at the same time, it almost feels like it could be on-par with something you'd hear in a Kirby game. My notes on this one are incredibly minor:
Absolutely pat yourself on the back, because this is SUCH a marvelous and polished game.
good points! i noticed all your nitpicks too when playing. honestly, the acceleration stacking on the jump felt pretty cool when it did happen that i think it might be good to increase the default jet lift speed.
Thank you so, so much for taking the time to play the game and leave such a lovely and detailed comment! <3
We were actually aware of the super-jump bug haha, but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to fix it before the deadline. The same happened with some of the platforming details and the checkpoint system we had planned.
We’re already talking about continuing development after the jam, so we’ll definitely work on those things and keep your feedback in mind.
Thank you again for all the kind words. The whole team was really happy reading your comment! <3
I'm happy I got the opportunity to play it, and offer any help that I'm able to! I'm really excited to hear your plans to continue development, because you've got a really solid baseline going. I would absolutely buy and play whatever this might transform into if it ever got published.
I think I finally figured out how to consistently cause it! If you apply your jets with a greater falling speed than your jet acceleration can overcome such that your jets are still running as you hit the ground, your next jump applies the jet's acceleration to your regular jump! Not sure if you knew already, but I was excited I could finally reproduce it.
The art looks super cool, the music sets the atmosphere well, and it's everything really polished, congratulations! I felt a little lost and didn't really know where to go, and ended up restarting a couple times - I have a personal problem with metroidvania games, so that's probably on me :P Good job!
Thank you so much for your comment!
Yeah, the map ended up being a lot bigger than we originally expected haha. We had a few things planned to make navigation easier, like adding a map and more visual guidance, but unfortunately we ran out of time before the deadline.
Sorry you got a bit lost, but thank you so much for playing and for the kind words! <3
WOW! This art is amazing! And the animation!
I love all the color palettes! This is my first GB Jam, so I'm not sure whether using multiple palettes is allowed, but it looks good! The gameplay and mechanics are great! However, when I die, I cannot respawn. I'm not sure if I am not pressing the right button, but I pressed every button D: Great use of theme, too!
Very impressive!
Thank you so much for your comment! <3
And yes, the palette changes were allowed in the jam. The rule was that we couldn’t use more than 4 colors on screen at the same time, so each palette transition still keeps that 4-color limit.
About the respawn, we actually planned to add a checkpoint system, but unfortunately we ran out of time before the deadline. Sorry about that :(
Thanks again for playing and for the lovely comment! <3
