It was a little slow for me to get started, but the music kept me interested long enough to keep playing. Once I got into it, I played for quite a while and this was genuinely super fun.

A few things I loved about it:

It felt well balanced. There was a pretty continuous time pressure that kept it fast paced and full of quick decisions, but didn’t feel impossible at all.

The gold flashing with the music was awesome. I definitely didn’t head nod to the rhythm the whole time, such good music :P and again the sync’d gold flashes really made it.

The incoming gold wave on the left was great to give me an idea how much time I have left to grab more gold.

I love the spikes, they were timed nicely (and well done art) - juuuust enough to get through, but not gratuitous.

The map felt really large! And the art for the whole thing was great.

The chests were so helpful. It’s actually kinda wild how much the weight of gold slows you down, but does so in an insidious way. after finding a chest, it’s a “ahhh thats better” moment when I realize how much I was weighed down. Lots of spamming K to get out of binds!

The reset tile puzzles were pretty clever.

Overall really such a fun game. I will be coming back to try to get to the end after I rate my other queue entries. (made it to ~19k gold after a couple runs.. dunno how far along that is!) The secondary theme was perhaps a little bit on the literal side, but you hit the gold part regardless.

Though: I was surprised the mouse did anything on a gameboy :P
