joa bs — 22:59 Vesper is a former organ harvester who has been retired for two years. Due to an infection threatening to destroy her mind, she is forced to return to her old trade for one last job: finding the head of Biomax Solutions and securing a way to stop the infection. The assignment proves especially critical when she uncovers Biomax Solutions' exploitation of children, forcing her to decide whether to prioritize her own survival or put an end to the system she was once a part of.

It’s a good idea you guys had; I tried to get the car in, and although it took a while, I managed to reach the right spot. I discovered that you can aim your weapon during the puzzle, though there were some enemies I couldn't kill, and the enemies really need a health indicator.
At the start, the visuals of the menu look fine, though the exit and close buttons aren't intuitive, out of curiosity, I closed the game by accident.
The starting cutscene is fine, I really liked the head movement of the camera. However, the dialogues skip fast and the character's animation freezes at the end.
Once in the game, there are no indicatives about where to go but with a bit of attention you'll notice there's only one tall building glowing, far far away from where the player started (I discovered later that you could use that one car at the start but I'm just dumb and couldn't solve the puzzle)
Once you arrive at the club, there are enemies in random positions where they shoot and chase you? Also both the character's and the enemies' animations are broken and the enemies leave a permanent magenta trail once they shot, which lasts forever.
At the end you solve a puzzle and the game ends there.
The "last job" part other than the dialogue between the main character and Nox was non-existent ingame.
The portrait of the game looks good, but the art ingame is meh.
There's audio for some things like shooting and reloading (and the phone at the starting cinematic) but nothing else.
At the credits scene, there's no button to go back to menu or anything so we stick with the reliable ALT + F4 method.
In general, the game is incomplete and misses lots of things.
JustTunguska, I know you from school ( .... - - .--. ... .-- .-- .-- .-.-.- -.-- --- ..- - ..- -... . .-.-.- -.-. --- -- .-- .- - -.-. .... ...- -.. --.- .-- ....- .-- ----. .-- --. -..- -.-. --.- .-.-. ) translate that
Let's start with the good things. The intro was rather movie-like even when the background story sounds... familiar. The character design of Vesper was on point (in a low-poly world where people have no faces) for a slim but muscular woman who had worked as fighter in the organ business of the future. I liked the sequence.
Unfortunately, the dialogue is unskippable (which may be ok at the first but unnecessary on all folowing playthroughs), a little too fast, and has typos.
Vesper finds out that the person who could save her, maybe, (who is not Anders Hellman but a guy called Simmons) is in the Neon Veil Club. So she grabs her gun (of the size of a railgun but with only 8 bullets in the magazine) and enters the city which is as dark as her mood. There are moving lights though, reminding me of Blade Runner. Luckily, the club is the only building with advertisements while the other buildings are ugly, dark and empty shells, only memories of their former selves. Ah, we are in Detroit...
She enters the club where no one is dancing. All rooms seem empty, but there are some guys with big guns running around, opening fire at sight. I wouldn't recommend this club at all, despite its funky name. Vesper shoots them all as she found out that she can reload her gun and consume the hearts of the deceased to heal herself, probably a bad habit from her previous job.
One door of the club is secured with a puzzle that insults her intellect. She opens the door - and that's it. End of game.
In the credits the Dev talks about a car controller, and yes, there was a car in a street but that's not very unusual in a city.
Okay. This is an unfinished mess. I would rather have a wall of text intro instead of the polished movie one if the actual game which comes after it really would work. The city design is sad, the fighting is broken, the movement of the enemies does not convince me, the bullet rays stay hanging in the room, the club is devoid of... anything which makes a club (but has objects without colliders), there is almost no sound in the game, the plot does not hold up to the description, and there is no menu so I had to end it with Alt-F4.
Yes, it's a GameJam game. It seems you started strong and had not enough time left for the gameplay afterwards. It has potential, though. And please don't ship the DoNotShip directory.
Well this is gonna be a difficult review to make, mostly because there isn't much for me to review. But I'll try my best:
- The starting cut scene has a major problem, it skips automatically and it does it fast, generally auto skip should be reserved either for when you have voice acting, in which case you don't actually have to read the whole thing, or if there is more than enough time to read through the entire thing before it skips forward, but as is, there is a couple walls of text that get skipped before I'm even halfway finished.
- The puzzles could use some sort of indicator, short dialog quip, a tutorial popup, anything really, cause I had to stare at it for a bit before I realized its a tile puzzle.
- The written down controls on the itch page don't include reloading and LMB and RMB are labeled as doing the opposite thing.
- The car is a bit hidden, I only realized that it was a working thing after the credits rolled.
- The reload just breaks all the character animations.
Again it's hard for me to leave a more cohesive review, because there is just so little and a lot of what is here is unfinished.
