Wow, as someone who also submitted with a GB Studio game I have to give you so much credit! I loved everything about the game to be honest. Your music making skills are something I could learn from since I had a hard time making music that wasn't a pain to listen to on repeat (Seriously, if you have advice I would love it). Great work on the game and great take on the theme!

Thanks for the very kind comment! I have some classical and jazz music training, but I'm not a professional musician. All the music in this game was made in a two-hour period, so I kind of felt like they were short little things. I am glad you liked them. When I am writing music for GB Studio, I try to focus on melody with one channel and then use the other two channels to add harmony and chords using the 3rd and 5th notes of whatever chords I am using. I dont have much advice cause I still feel like I want to get better at it myself.

I like the theme of following the history of gold! The minigames were fun, and the art was incredible! Really amazing job for a 10 day project! Great work!

There's a strong graphical effort, and it's cool that in your first jam you produced something complete and saw it out to the end. I had a hard time being drawn in by the game's overall storyline, though.  It is nonfiction, but it can still benefit from framing with conflict and a goal, or some greater motivation --- i.e. why should the player be so vested in the evolution of gold over the entirety of the universe's timeline?

I think the strongest point here is actually the game's overall ambition. This is not just a simple visual novel, but there's some cutscenes in there too to induce immersion. I hope you are inspired to make more games in the future.

Thanks and fair point on the storyline it was only chosen based off the jam prompt of "old gold"

Outstanding game for your first GBJam ! Graphism, music, all fits to the GB theme, and as if the game is pretty simple, the concept if the gameplay is really fun, it's a 5/5 ! :)

Thanks, I have made a few other Game Boy games before, but my fastest had been 1 month ( and it was a GBC game, so less optimizing)

Thanks, I spent the first day of the jam just brainstorming to come up with an interesting idea for it.
