While playing the tutorial I found that trying to read text nearly impossible as the screen size was so small, and with the waves behind it I couldn't really read what the text was supposed to say. I tried to set it to full screen but doing so made the game resolution 16:9 which means that enemies would come at me from off screen, and because the enemies are just as fast as my ship I couldn't escape from them as they just stayed on my ship the entire time. Also because of the fact that the ships do quite a bit of damage in a short amount of time, and because the cooldown between shots is so long the moment an enemy touches you with over half of its health is practically a death sentence.

Speaking of, every time I died I couldn't respawn as the button didn't work. So unfortunately I had to refresh the page every time I died. A few critiques that I have outside of that would be on the graphics side, as the sizes of the different game assets created a big problem that being mixels. Mixels are a phenomenon that happens when two elements in a video game or image are different pixel resolutions. It's important to keep this in mind when making games, and its even more important to keep in mind that your game elements should not be scaled or rotated in these situations! Just keep that in mind next time you make a game. Overall it definitely could have been better, though I also see a lot of potential for this game to become better if you just put more time into it.

Solid for a game made in a short time!

The in game tutorial is pretty nice, though as said by others too the game is quite difficult and not forgiving.
But I think difficult games were quite frequent on gameboy so you could say it's in the theme!!
Also the world is quite big, I spent a lot of time looking around for enemies, sadly I couldn't finish or find a shop.

I think the combat gameplay is missing something , trying to run from ennemies while having to shoot at them from the front of your ship makes it very unforgiving and a bit frustrating, but maybe it get fixed by upgrades later in the game.
If I could give a suggestion maybe since the first ennemies are trying to ram the player, making them a bit smaller and less tanky would make the first few encounters more manageable and rewarding.
Then gives the player a way to upgrade and face them with more challenging foes.

Too bad for the sounds as it could have make the experience more enjoyable.
Also maybe make the press space at the end restart instead of quit would have been a big plus.

Good work!

good job! you made a game all by yourself, taught yourself some new skills, and made a deadline.
your next game will be even better.

It's a good game if you get past the first enemy lol. the area is very big and it's difficult to find the remaining enemies. But overall well done!

Who is the pirate here, holy crap those merchant ships were deadly. I gave your game a few tries but could not get far, also space button being broken to restart was sad.

Overall, while very rough, this has potential to be a really fun game! Just wish you had more time.

ooof 2-3 days is painful to make a game i understand that so i wont be too harsh as you're definitely already aware of some of the issues but it's great that you managed to do something in the first place so good job!
