How does your game meet GBJam's theme
The idea is that you leave behind your old gold in order to complete puzzles and continue on. Except Fat Cat likes his gold.

wish i had gotten to this one before the end of voting! great little game! your ratings are way lower than they should be even without the score adjustment.

  • i really love the mechanic of having to collect pieces of gold to open doors and such. i’m greedy though and wish there was a box or something on the other side that i could replace on the switch to take the bag of gold haha! i guess if that was the case, Fat Cat would be really heavy by the end of a level.
  • really nice level. would love to play more!
  • the controls feel really nice. i was thinking the player could use just a little more height on the jump. i got hung up ledges a few times because i let go of the jump button just a bit too early, but actually it may have been that i was carrying more gold. that is also a cool mechanic. i could see that being used in puzzles if you were to add more levels.
  • music and sounds definitely would add a lot to the game, but it’s really charming and fun as is. it’s a shame you all didn’t have a sound person. there were a bunch looking for teams this year.
  • the graphics are fantastic! you’ve got some anti-aliasing on some of the text that breaks the 4-color rule. look into removing that so you don’t repeat it next year. hope you all will participate in the jam again!

Really nice  game!, the sprite work was really nice, i really recommend adding a few prerlax layers to the background

it will really improve it, the gameplay was nice i really felt like it needed a short tutorial at the start but still i enjoyed it good job!

I loved the art style and enjoyed the gameplay loop a lot!

Loved the screen shaking when the cat was carrying too much gold.

This is a very fun idea! I love the graphics and art style in this, it's super cute and has a good amount of personality. I do wish that there was music/sfx in the game, especially when the cat got super heavy with gold but the screen shaking does make up for it. It would also be nice if there was like one more level to explore the game's mechanics more but overall y'all did a great job!

good gameplay (heavy bag to break or push button) ! great graphics remind me wario ^^ that was fun even if no sound

Good submission! Would have loved some sfx though. The most satisfying thing was the screenshake when you pick up three bars of gold at the end.

The art is great and the concept is really good! It didn't have any sound (idk if this was just a glitch or not) but over all it's a very good and well polished game (when you get so heavy that the screen shakes is a nice touch)

Not a half-bad entry! It does feel a tad incomplete, but of what you have, I think it's pretty fun. I did have one gripe, not necessarily the biggest issue. The hitbox didn't feel proportional to the character, which was a bit confusing at times. But congrats on your submission!

I think you took a cool approach to the game jam's theme and the idea of having to use the gold you collect to do things is fresh and fun! Honestly I wish it was longer! Your sprites are amazing too!

The game is cool, and the weight mechanic is really original. I had fun crushing one of the enemies haha. Other than that, I would have liked to see more levels

Thanks man! We were strapped for time and it was the first time in Godot for our programmer, but I think he pulled off the game feel well!
