To be honest, I felt a bit of impostor syndrome about giving longer feedback on the submissions as a first-time game maker, but after your comment, I really want to dive deeper.
So let me start by saying I really enjoyed the UI's cleanness and simplicity and how well it complements the concept by getting you directly into the action. The concept of burning the letters is very appealing and does something internally for the player, knowing there is no coming back from it. It also shook me to understand that after I shelved a letter, there was no "exchanging" them anymore if I opened a different letter. It made me think more carefully about which one to open next, rather than just diving in directly. However, I think I would have enjoyed it more if the letter you shelved had an impact later in the obituary. Right now the question is: who are we shelving that letter for? Maybe that person could make a final touch on the obituary, or we could choose to give it to that person. Spitballing here, but if I shelve it, it could be nice to have an impact later on.
On the writing, I just want to say it all feels very natural and perfectly coherent in the characters. Some characters are ambiguous enough to keep you wondering when it happened and how, and some are just the real deal, direct to the point. The one question I kept asking myself is whether the French lover was a recent affair or an old lover. I can see how you would want to keep it open; otherwise, dates could be a nice touch-up, depending on purpose. But it gave me "Her Story" vibes: depending on which letter you open first, you get a different idea of who Victoria was, until you open another letter and learn more about a certain topic. Honestly, super carefully crafted and so rewarding to explore. As well as the contrast between choosing lines that basically tell a lie about her, those that don't, and those that are a nicely put way in between.
Overall, a cool idea with great writing that keeps you hooked until the end!
