Very ambitious project, maybe even TOO ambitious! Spoilers for this review- I'll be using the word "uneven" a lot!

Starting with audio. You obviously took care for the audio to be detailed. There are NOT many jam games where sounds of the footsteps vary depending on what you are walking on. From the other hand- the pistol sounds like it had a silencer on, and you cant' hear the enemy shots, unless they are really close.

Graphics are pretty much the same. The cats look cute and the scale of the game is impressive. Blocky guns are ok I guess, but the enemies don't look great.

Gameplay. The guns are VERY accurate, but it worked for me- I just landed my shots from far away :) But I couldn't finish the game, because I couldn't slide under the thing in the quarry.

One of the most important skills in a game jam is time management. You need to know how much you can do in ten days. I'd say, that a game quarter the size of your would be impressive in a game jam. My general rule is to make the game in half the time and then have time for polish and bug fixing.

My advice- check out unity asset store for some assets, or work with an artist (I do!). Check out freesound.org for some good sounding sound effects. Focus on your strengths and don't overscope. I'm looking forward for your next game!

Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate it

And yeah I definitely agree that I overscoped a bit 😅 There were still a lot of things I wanted to add or fix. Yesterday I literally didnt sleep at all trying to finish everything before the deadline lol. Still Im pretty happy with how much I managed to get done.

About the quarry part. You actually dont have to slide under that thing. You can just go around it. The game is pretty open so you can even go through the grass or forest if you want. I think the normal path is more fun though.

The characters were actually a style choice. I know theyre simple but I kinda like them like that. Thats obviously subjective though so I completely understand if the style didnt work for you.

If you have the time Id REALLY appreciate it if you gave the rest of the game another try. The part you played is still pretty early. Its around 10-15 minutes in total and later you get more weapons like shotguns and sniper rifles. I tried to make the combat satisfying especially with headshots being one hit kills.

Thanks again for the feedback! And if you do finish it Id love to hear what you think about the whole game and get an honest rating + feedback on the later parts too :)

I'll try to find some time to check out the rest.

Btw- I got the shotgun and the rifle. The part I got stuck on was on a narrow bridge, right after riding on a line. Falling from the bridge ended in instant death though :(

Ahh okay I think I know the place you mean now :)

If its the spot Im thinking of then you shouldnt slide there. You need to jump over it and use the climbing mechanic to get across.

And thanks for trying more of the game too. If you manage to find the time Id really appreciate it if you could beat the whole thing. Would be really nice to hear what you think about the later parts too.

Appreciate you giving it another shot :)

I noticed exactly the same thing with the accuracy, although I came away with a slightly different opinion on it. Once I realized the pistol seemed to hit wherever the crosshair was regardless of distance, I stopped having to think much about range.

I think a little spread or some other accuracy penalty over distance could make the weapon progression the developer mentioned more meaningful too. Then getting the rifle later wouldn’t just be “another gun,” it could actually change the distances you’re comfortable engaging from. Definitely subjective though. I can also see why the current accuracy feels good in a jam game where you don’t want the combat getting frustrating.
