How does your game interpret and use the theme?
When I first saw the theme “THE LONG WAY HOME”, I imagined a player taking a long journey to reach their destination. Then I flipped it around: “What if the NPCs were the ones taking the long way, and the player shaped their journey?”
That idea became this game, where you build long, winding routes for your customers and sell them items along the way.

This was my first game jam, and although I feel the quality is a bit lacking, it was a great experience to create a finished game.

This game looks great. Unfortunately, my GPU went up to 100% and the game lagged so much I could not even walk around. I do have a slower computer, though it's not common for even small Unreal games to need a lot of effort to optimize. I've played text games in Unreal that are literally just a picture and text and it still puts my GPU up to 100%. I don't use Unreal myself, but have read that reducing frame rate and having far away items not be rendered until they are approached can help a lot.
Anyway, congrats on finishing your game. It looks like a lot of people have enjoyed it :)
Sorry about the GPU performance issue. Since this was my first game, I didn’t really think much about optimization while making it. If I make another game in the future, I’ll definitely keep optimization in mind as well.
YOOO, THIS IS SUCH A CREATIVE TWIST ON THE THEME! 🛍️🔥
I love how you flipped “The Long Way Home” around and made the NPCs take the long journey instead of the player! 🤯 The idea of building winding routes for your customers and selling them items along the way is genuinely interesting. It gives the theme a fresh perspective, and the moving capsule NPCs are a cool touch that helps bring the whole concept to life! 🎮✨
Also, huge respect for making this your FIRST GAME JAM GAME! 💪 Creating a finished project in around 30–40 hours using Unreal Engine is already an achievement, especially when you're experimenting with different mechanics and trying to turn a creative idea into a playable experience. And that secret door Easter egg? 👀 Now I'm curious about what you hid in there! 😂
One thing I'd love to see is more interactions and variety in the customer routes, along with a little extra polish to make the experience feel even more complete. The core idea has potential, and I'd love to see how you develop it in future projects!
KEEP CREATING, DEV! 🚀💚 Your first jam doesn't have to be perfect — it just has to give you something to learn from and build upon. You've already taken that first step, and I hope this is the beginning of many more creative games from you! GG and good luck with the jam! 🏆✨
Very good job, the first one always is hard but the result is great.
unreal i know is hard so just for that a good beginning for the result
The renders are well and the mechanics works well too.
The game has potencial and required time, like more elements, and mechanics, but is a really good beginning, nice good there, and continue creating x3
Thank you for response! I will try more hard :)
For a first jam its great work, mine certainly wasn't that complex. There are several systems working fairly well here, but the overall presentation lacks from polishing. I'm sure you're next jam will go a lot better once you get the hang of finding the right scope and leaving time for testing.
Good work, promising!
Thank you for response!
As you said, I will make it better next time :)Good job on finishing your first Game Jam! You can already see a strong foundation for the game. It just needs a bit more polishing!
Thanks for the advice and the response! :)
This was interesting.
It feels overworked in some areas and under crafted in others. It’s cool to see the capsule NPCs to move by, and the textures are very good. Everything presents pretty much how I would expect it to.
Just missing some interaction and game mechanics. Great work!
Thanks for the comment! Since this was my first project, I originally wanted to work more on the balance and improve the overall game design, but I wasn't able to pull it off as well as I'd hoped. I'll keep working on those areas and try to improve them in my future projects! Thanks so much for playing!
