Thanks a lot for sticking with it and reporting everything, it really helps!

I've uploaded a new version. The main fixes:

  • The freeze after dying (or at the end of a shift) should be fixed. Please re-download before your next session.
  • The first two nights are now easier, so you have time to learn how things work.
  • Ghosts should no longer get stuck at doors, and the flashlight works more reliably against them.

A few survival tips, since the game doesn't explain itself well yet (that's on me!):

  • Keep the fridges cold. If a body warms up, something wakes up.
  • When the power goes out, start the generator, and keep it fueled. Too many devices at once will blow the fuse.
  • Drawers sometimes slide open on their own. Keep checking them and close them.
  • Coffee is for emergencies. It makes you faster, and if you ever get locked out of a room, drinking it highlights where the key is.
  • Hold the flashlight on a ghost to burn it away, but it drains the battery fast.
  • The flashlight only chases a ghost away for a while. It keeps coming back until you cool down the body it came from.

If anything feels confusing or unfair, please tell me. That helps me just as much as the bug reports, because I want the game to teach this without needing a comment like this one. 😄

You are most welcome ! Thank you so much for the extra details, that really helps and makes it even more fun.

I tried to play in different way and test it all and it did freeze once again:

- I started shift 1 and then played as I would the first time and after the generator stops, I restarted and  wanted to see how replacing a fuse looks like. So I grabbed a fuse and after I replaced it in the generator room, the same freezing screen happened.

I hope this is helpful and you don't hate me XD

This is what works great now:

- overall it does feel a bit more balanced;

- the freeze at the first shift is completely gone;

- I am sure I made my mistakes but not it does feel more playable and you even have the time to check the rooms when you first play and get used to where everything is.

New update is up! It should fix the freezes, the first nights are easier, and dying is now much scarier. Consider that a feature 😄

This will be my last update for The Replacement for now. I'm moving on to other projects, so the morgue is officially closed for repairs. Thank you so much for all the testing and the detailed reports. You've been the best (and only 😅) QA team I've ever had.

No pressure to keep playing, but if you do try the new version, I'd love to hear how your last shift goes!

Hey, thank you so so much for all the replies and the fixes! I am also going through your catalogue and am enjoying the stories in all your games.  Glad to hear you are busy making other games as well! You are welcome and hope it was not annoying that I 'bugged' you with my issues. All the best and will see you around!
