Description
An original soundtrack for the Impressions Composing Jam : Ambience #4
I tried to translate into sound the story suggested by the jam's theme, and this piece, "Secret Lake," tells the story of a royal court investigator who is tasked with looking into strange events occurring at one of His Majesty's properties. It's located in the middle of a distant, mysterious lake on the outskirts, in a remote mountainous area where legends and murky events cover its history.

The different musical threads I've created for this occasion are intended to surround our intrepid investigator's search for the mysteries and paranormal events that take place in this enigmatic place, and that's why it bears the nickname "Secret Lake."

Sorry but it's kind of unbearably loud. It's not bad but it's so loud and blown out it's unfortunately hard to listen to.

Thanks for listening and for the feedback, which is very valuable to me. I'm sorry for giving you discomfort, honestly, that was never my intention. It's definitely something I'll keep in mind for future projects.

I dig the chaotic nature of the drones, and how they kept moving during the track, but the fact there's not much more than them and the plucked instrument on top makes the song lose a bit of interest as we go along. The vibes are there, though, and the sound design work on the drone itself is very cool. It feels like a solid foundation to work upon.

Thank you so much for your valuable observations! Honestly, I absolutely love creating drones, and this jam was a golden opportunity to really let my creativity flow with them. One of the criteria when approaching the tracks was to build passages that wouldn't distract the player, which is why the melodies needed to be repetitive or short and the atmospheres dense or at least that's what I assumed. I also didn't want to give the sound any brightness or rhythm, aiming for something like a thick fog, hehehe. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with me!

Interesting take, sounds a bit industrial the more I'm doing into all the tracks, that is lots of tracks too, I like the arps in delayed you made it added a nice rythmic touch  to the tracks and created some variations, only some of the long pads tracks have nice textures put a little blend in terms of musical composition. Also indeed it is very loud, you'll have to drop it down by a good amount next time, it will be more pleasant to hear.

Thanks for listening and for taking the time to write this, haha. Yes, the volume is something I’ll keep in mind for my next projects.

When approaching the project, I decided to lean into giving the music a certain anachronistic feel. I wanted to convey the sensations of the adventure and emphasize the strange and paranormal elements that unfold throughout it. Combining an Eastern, mountainous setting with a secret lake and a more synthetic, almost unreal soundtrack felt like a really interesting idea that I wanted to explore.

Thanks again for your valuable feedback!

First thing is; it's really loud... I could barely listen to it with my headphone volume turned up like I usually have them... Second, it's almost twice as much as the allowed time limit.. However, I have to admit that I do like how unique the Album is, with a lot of rare & unique Instruments! I also hope that the Creator can still make an exception for you on the Time Limit, though, TBH... I wouldn't mind if 1 or 2 people accidently went over the Time Limit.

Thank you so much for listening and for your incredibly valuable feedback! You're absolutely right. When I was mastering the tracks, I got the feeling that if I respected the dynamics on the purely ambient ones, they somehow lost... atmosphere, maybe? I'm not quite sure how to put it. But I noticed that by treating all the tracks as one cohesive block, the album gained a stronger collective personality and everything felt more unified, hehe. Of course, that came at the expense of losing some dynamic range in the more melodic parts. Either way, it's definitely something to keep in mind for future releases. Thanks again so much for taking the time to share your thoughts!!!

Yeah, you're welcome! Mastering is definitely one of the hardest parts of Music Production.. However, all it really takes is just some experience.

I was not expecting that drop into the Koto/Shamisen at ~1m25 on Col Water, that was sick. The strings on Desciende para subir were awesome and the jump into the synth on the next track was another pleasant surprise. Super versatile soundscapes throughout, it definitely gave a lot of dimension.

Thanks a million! I deeply appreciate your feedback, and I'm thrilled that the tracks managed to surprise you. I'll keep nurturing that element of surprise in my future work!!
