Hello there , I just started my journey in gamedev and currently using claude(free). I personally have a very good experience with it but it also depends on how you are using it . Being a CSE(2nd year) student myself i always cross verify the logic and I also ask claude to explain the code , so i can learn GODOT faster . I also think that using AI is now more feasible because I find it a lot easier to ask AI rather than searching info online and often cross-checking some facts they missed for ex:- you may refer to a YT video but have to check How old that video is ? if it is outdated that solution may not work on your tool, and also you can't ask questions to them so AI makes it lot easier. In simple words "It brings all the neccessary info at one place with ability to answer the questions we will raise". I am using AI in a way that I should be able to explain my projects to anyone . Rest is with you there are many ways to use AI (Sorry for my bad english and punctuation)

After the first project, I thought I understood everything because I had refined the requirements and reviewed the logic of the AI-written code. But when I started the second project, I couldn't write a complete player_controller file on my own. That's when I realized I had done something wrong. Now, on the third project, I think if I used artificial intelligence (AI), I could complete the prototype in about a week, but I've decided against it.
