How does your game meet GBJam's theme
They may not be gold, but there are secret rotating cube thingies across the level, some of them hidden. They are only obtainable by using the mechanic of the game, perspective switching!

Sadly could not find the last one, but the puzzle overall felt great. The “Z” layering and jumping between them sometimes is confused, do 2d ground technically draw, but you are two layer behind it so it is a hole and you just fall down, probably this is the only critique point i can gave.
The game had an interesting take on the lowrez shader, everything felt smushed a bit and also the top left counter dissapears when you full screen the game on web. The shading is nice overall, it has a unique vibe to it for sure.
Music and sfx were great, well done on those.
Overall cool little puzzle game once you wrap your head around all the rules inside.
This is a really neat idea and a very creative puzzler. I like your shader, but also, things feel really fuzzy in a way that makes it feel hard to reason about the game. Also, I found it a bit too hard. May need to better scale the difficulty curve.
Thanks for checking it out and for your feedback. The fuzzy shader (not entirely happy with it either) is a bit wonky and I definitely could have tweaked the difficulty a bit more.
This is a beautifully executed puzzler idea. It's hard to rate as a GBJAM 14 "old gold" game because it really feels like it's going its own way, but I love this nonetheless. What I mean is, I couldn't exactly call the music and the graphics "gameboy" per se but I still really like that strumming guitar in the background, the sfx, the 3d method involved in this tiny resolution game. On the other hand, the introduction, mood, gameplay that does a lot with a little feel very, very GB. Why, given a Faceball 2000 pass it could absolutely register as a GB cart!
All in all, this is quite fantastic and, while I'm a little bit perplexed as to how I would rate some categories as regards specifically this jam I still think it's a brilliant game!
Thank you so much! Really honored by such a thoughtful review. Glad you enjoyed the mood, background guitar, and 3D stuff, even if it strays a bit from a strict GB retro style haha. Thanks for playing!
Great idea and impressive implementation of game mechanic!I like puzzles, color palette and SFX. The game reminds me one similar psp game :)
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it :) which PSP game btw?
the game is called "Echochrome"
Great implementation of a 2d/3d perspective game in this low resolution and palette. well done. I only found 4 cubes though… also, I managed to put the ball in a position, where it couldn’t switch to 2d anymore. there should be a way to reset the boxes via a menu.
The sound was spot on, reflecting the strangeness of this world.
well done!
Thank you! In hindsight, a reset button would be optimal, for sure. I'm sorry you got stuck, but glad you enjoyed it either way :)
Let's go! 3d in 160x144, and so well made. Respect. I love puzzles, and so much potential. all 5 stars for sure
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Love these types of game!
Spending time finding the right path and the right change of perspective is super fun.
It doesn't remind a lot of Gameboy and music is too modern for GB, also secondary theme maybe could have been more "upfront" but nonetheless a very fun game, good job! :)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it nonetheless :)
The game is AWESOME! Tho i dunno where is the actual theme. Great job!
Thank you! That's fair, I should have spent more time focusing on the theme, for sure!
3D Game Boy game gang! Really like the main mechanic and look of this thing. Ended up hard stuck in one situation; you have an unused button, so you may want to use for a quick reset or something. Love the basic idea here though! Would love to see it expanded. A fun aesthetic twist on Paper Mario or Fez.
Hell yeah! And dang, was it on the island with the longer box you had to push over the gap? You're right, I should have implemented some sort of reset button. But nonetheless, glad you enjoyed it! Thank you.
I LOVE this game. however, I don't feel the theme is there at all. maybe if you made the rotating cubes gold that would help? maybe instead of the rotating cubes, they're chunks of gold? I don't know.
the gameplay was awesome!! the perspective switching really felt like Paper Mario to me, (which is good!), and the palette was very well chosen! thanks for experience! :)
Thank you! You're right, the theme Old Gold isn't there but I blame myself and my stubborness to stay with the color palette I chose and not including gold as color lol
Got all 6 cubes, it was a fairly hard game, good mechanic, it's just that the theme doesnt fit and doesnt feel gameboiey
Good job, thanks for playing! And I agree, I could have done the Old Gold theme better, they're just white cubes lol
Very impressive and weird. I got almost all of the secret floating cube thingies, but one eluded me. curses.
Thank you! I may have hidden some of them too well, my bad. I loved All That Glitters, good job on that!
