Hi everyone!🤗  My friend and I recently released our first game "Recipe Frenzy". I was hoping you can give us some genuine feedback if it's your type. We are especially wondering about the following points:

  1. Did you find the need to check the tutorial in the game or did you explore on your own?
  2. In either cases, did you understand the mechanics of the game? Did you like it?
  3. What suggestions do you have to make the game actually worth to be paid for?
  4. Have you come across an asset pack or a source that has the kind of food & ingredients we used?

Feel free to answer these points or just write freely your thoughts. If you like the game don't forget to rate it. 😉

I played one Simmer round in the browser without the tutorial, so this is a first-timer's read. (I sell asset packs on itch and write with AI help, so weigh that.)

Tutorial: I cooked the Strawberry Milk Cake for 2 stars without it. The one thing that stalled me was the hint "switch exactly one ✗ card to ✓". Tapping Eggs in the recipe-book pantry did nothing. Switching only works after Lock & Cook, and it needs a second tap on the ✓. Adding "on the cooking table" to the hint would fix it.

Mechanics: clear after one round. The steps vanish once you lock, and that's the good tension.

Worth paying for: a round lasts 60 seconds, so the page has to sell depth. Your screenshots bury it: the recipe-book spread, which shows the most dishes at once, is 6th of 8. The Kitchen Journal with every stamp greyed out is 2nd, and the 3rd still has a Windows title bar across the top. I'd lead with the book spread and the "50 dishes, 11 cuisines" line.

Assets: I don't know of a painted set that matches yours. Pixel food would clash with it.

Hello Pixelkiln! Thanks for playing and giving your feedback about our game. I'm glad you mentioned the confusion in the hint, because we didn't know how to fix it so we'll edit it like you suggested. And we'll be editing the description so we can cross our fingers for getting some support. ☺️

It’s been such a special journey making Recipe Frenzy together! ❤️ Seeing our first game come to life after all the time, ideas, little details, and challenges we put into it makes me really proud of what we’ve created.

There’s still so much we want to improve and so many ideas we’d love to bring to the game, but I’m really happy with how far we’ve come. 🥹

Thank you for being part of this journey and for all the work you’ve put into making Recipe Frenzy what it is. Here’s to our first game, and hopefully many more to come! ✨

Nice concept for a first game. The cooking loop looks easy to understand, but I think showing the strongest recipes and progression earlier could make the game feel more rewarding. Good luck with the project!
