Desecration's free open playtest is now available for Windows x64 and Apple Silicon Mac.

Third-person sorcery. Creature command. You're the wizard in the middle of the battle: cast spells, raise a brood of creatures, recover fallen souls and fight your way towards the rival altar.

Explore the patron and spell previews, jump into a skirmish, or try the campaign opening. The current builds include the four selected god voices, a hooded campaign guide and recent movement improvements. This is an early prototype, with unfinished visuals, balance and plenty still to improve.

Sacrifice was my favourite game growing up. I'm a senior developer and AI lead, and this is my attempt to recapture that unusual mix of personal spellcasting and commanding creatures in an original game. Development started in Godot before moving to Unreal and C++, and uses AI-assisted tools, generated art and voices.

I'd love feedback on the first 15–20 minutes: what confused you, which spells felt good, whether commanding your creatures made sense, and what would bring you back for another match. Leave a comment on the game page with your OS and hardware if you hit a problem.

Mac requirements: Apple Silicon M1 or later, macOS 14+. The Mac build is not Apple-notarized, so macOS may block first launch. Windows installation instructions are on the download page.
