Sockeye salmon have to swim upstream for 10 to 40 days back to where they were born when it's time to mate. I turned the long way home into a race!

WAIT, A SALMON RACING HOME UPSTREAM?! ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ”ฅ

This is such a fun and hilarious interpretation of โ€œThe Long Way Homeโ€! Turning the salmonโ€™s real-life journey back to its birthplace into a race is a really clever idea, and the rhythm/timing gameplay fits the swimming theme surprisingly well. The opening cutscene and humor also give the game a lot of personality, and I really liked the homemade presentation and intense music.

The biggest thing Iโ€™d improve is the jump/timing feedback. It can be hard to tell exactly when the correct moment is, so a stronger visual indicator, timing zone, or more obvious animation could make the mechanic much easier to understand while still keeping the challenge. A skip option for the intro on replay would also be a nice little quality-of-life addition.

SUCH A FUNNY AND CREATIVE JAM ENTRY! ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ”ฅ GREAT WORK TURNING A REAL SALMON JOURNEY INTO A RACE, AND GOOD LUCK WITH THE JAM! ๐ŸŽฎโœจ

Very fun! I love the idea and the gameplay!
But damn, the window to hit the jump is too small. I wasn't able to hit it consistently, and I didn't know why.
Still, I love it! Good job!

Anything Salmon is the perfect interpretation of the theme ๐Ÿ˜…

This was pretty fun. The perfect timing detection was a little too tight in my opinion. I ran it 4 times and never felt like I understood exactly where the timing was at.

That being said, I did get second once.

The rest of the game is solid. I was pretty engaged while playing, and the premise was hilarious. It was a tad longer than I would have liked, and a skip cutscene indicator could help get to the action on subsequent plays of the game.

Solid entry!

Fun game. I couldn't get in 1st place, I guess being 2nd shall suffice. I was curious if something else happens when you finish 1st.

Hahaha, I really liked the opening cutscene it was very creative and the visuals look great. I had some trouble with the gameplay; I couldn't quite get the hang of the timing, but I guess that's because I'm not very good, hehehehe. Good game.

Salmon game that puts "me" in "blasphemy" (sounds better when you say it).

But seriously- the intro made me laugh. I was fan of Salmon Jesus since I saw him on the discord the first time.

The gameplay though, I was pretty bad at. I couldn't feel the jump- was I supposed to jump at the absolute peak, or when my salmon was, like, halfway on the wave? I didn't figure it out till the end, and so I finished last :(

Presentation was ok. I especially enjoyed the intense music.

Over all- I feel like gameplay wise this was not my cup of tea, but the writing and humor was, dare I say it, heavenly!

I really liked the UI and the puns! I suck at rhythm games haha

Fun game! Enjoyed the plot.
When brainstorming the idea with my team, we also discussed salmon, but thought it would be hard to make it fun.
