I really like the art style and the story! What I liked the most was the characters. The introduction was so short, yet so strong. I think the use of repetition was really clever, and it tells the player exactly what kind of person the protagonist is without needing a lot of text It also builds empathy toward her really quickly, which made me invested in the story from the very beginning. Citrine is also really interesting.
(SPOILER WARNING!!)

His character basically flips twice throughout the story. At first, he seems like a creep, but through his interactions and the nice gestures at the restaurant, he starts to seem like a genuinely nice guy. Then it flips again at the end, and the flyer is a really good piece of foreshadowing. I think most players will probably anticipate the first twist, but get caught off guard by the second one (myself included). What's even more impressive is that this character actually make sense. His motivations are clearly explained, and you manage to establish all of this in such a short playtime. The ending I got (the knife ending) was genuinely terrifying. The only nitpick I have is that Citrine's supernatural identity feels kind of irrelevant to the actual story. I think it might actually be scarier if the guy was simply mentally cooked and seeing red halos that weren't really there. Maybe is there to fit the Spooktober theme, but honestly, I think the story itself is already spooky enough without it!

Overall, really great job!

Thanks for the comment! I really appreciate it :> I'm glad you enjoyed the characters and their characterization. I think Fern really did great with it!

I know with the more supernatural elements, we had initially gone with the idea of it being more subtle so that it could be left up to the reader as to whether or not he really is some sort of monster. That ended up becoming more prominent once we got to the actual endings.  In part for the theming. Really, I'd say as a monster, he's still just as cooked. That boy ain't right, hahah!

Ahhhhhhhh it means so much to hear that someone likes these characters!

I made Citrine forever ago for a murder mystery setting, and I've just been using him for years now, so I've had a lot of time to work on his character.

I'm so glad that you liked the game!!! :>>>
