Ahhhhhhhh it means so much to hear that someone likes these characters!

I made Citrine forever ago for a murder mystery setting, and I've just been using him for years now, so I've had a lot of time to work on his character.

I'm so glad that you liked the game!!! :>>>

- Fern! The other dev,,

Thanks for the comment! I really appreciate it :> I'm glad you enjoyed the characters and their characterization. I think Fern really did great with it!

I know with the more supernatural elements, we had initially gone with the idea of it being more subtle so that it could be left up to the reader as to whether or not he really is some sort of monster. That ended up becoming more prominent once we got to the actual endings.  In part for the theming. Really, I'd say as a monster, he's still just as cooked. That boy ain't right, hahah!

This is a delightful lil demo! I love a good spooky gameshow. I'll look forward to the update :]

If there was one thing I'd love to see in the game, I'd love if each character got a different color text bubble, just to make them easier to quickly distinguish!

Great work :D

This is a charming little game! I love the count character. I noticed his teeth were a little different and when the drink thing it came up, it really clicked!
I'd have loved some extra turns in the story to figure out what was going on. I feel like I got fixated on alllll the wrong characters first run. Still, I did solve the mystery! Cute game :]

This is such an interesting concept for a visual novel. It'd work perfectly for the single asset event as well. Just very clever! I agree, the story leans more sad than scary, but the ending really brightens things up. Henry is delightful. I hope he has fun hearing all of those stories.

(1 edit)

This was a lovely little story! I just finished both endings. I think the way you decided to go about visuals is really creative, having that middle bar and putting the images on either side. I feel like you were able to use the CGs quite effectively!

Magical girl stories always draw me in. The profile picture on this account is one of my partner's own magical girl OCs, and I'm playing a pair of magical girl guys in our current campaign setting. I feel like we sit in similar themes about where magical girls end and monsters begin, what does it mean to be a person, as well as why these hero figures are kind and the complexities that come with unwavering kindness. I like that this is sort of an inverse of Madoka's trope, where instead of turning into monsters, the monsters turn into magical girls. Really, this is just my type of story! I kinda hope to see more stories take place in this setting you've put together here. Ah, I'm all inspired now :] Thank you for the game!

Edit: It's been several hours and I'm still thinking about this one. I just like this a lot-

That was really scary! The buildup was great! Also the art is really good... I really like the effect used when the 'lichen' is 'eating' them. It's so spooky!

Ahh, this entry is really cool! The atmosphere is really good and the art style is great at setting the mood. It is quite technical, but it's clear that there is something wrong happening. I think the part where Iona is going on about 18.98 is just really well put together. It gives me a specific feeling I can't find a word for. Dread I suppose? Nothing good is coming from that!
I'd like an ending guide as we only got two of the endings while playing together :3 I wanna see 'em all!

I like the gameplay with making the desserts! It's super nostalgic. It reminds me of those ipad games I'd play with my friends on the bus in elementary school. I do wish the recipes included numbers though. In a larger release, it'd be really fun if the recipes were functional ^v^ I think it'd be cute to make mummified eclairs in real life, trying to follow the game recipe :>

I'm really impressed you got the baking mechanic to work! That seems like a tricky thing for your first game jam! It's really cool :] I look forward to a full release on this one!!!

If you have the time, I’d greatly appreciate checking out my team’s game, Red Halo! None of us have put a VN before so we’re really proud of it-!!

I just think that the way it's phrased in the rules makes it sound like it's okay to have themes of suicide or suicidal intent in you're game as long as you're not glorifying it. Like, it's fine if you portray it as a a bad thing and make it clear you shouldn't kill yourself and that's really bad actually. But if just having suicide as a concept in the game can get it pulled and it's recommended you don't touch it, when you also have to pay to be judged, I think that should be made more clear

If it's recommended that you stay away from suicide entirely as a topic, shouldn't that be in the rules?

The rules just say

'Our judges do not wish to review content where upon suicide or self-harm is promoted, glorified, or instructed.

Text, whether in-game or in the non-executable files of the submission, containing instructions, encouragement of, or statement of intent of suicide or self-harm are similarly disqualified and reported to Itch.IO staff where applicable.

If you do not feel safe or have ideations of self-harm or suicide, please visit the find a helpline site to find a crisis helpline in your country!'

I don't think it makes it clear that the theme is meant to be avoided entirely.

You should put some kinda indication that you need  to press the space bar to start,,,

This looks so cool tho!!! Can't wait to start playing

The game feels quite unfinished, but I enjoy the concepts presented!

This is a nice game, I love the endings, Ozul is terrible and I love him for it. Any game where protagonists gets leashed is a 10/10.

The gorgon and the banshee had really nice designs!

I thought the butler was hot, 10/10.

I think the art was neat, but I didn't really enjoy the game.

this hit all my weird kinks, great job, now I'm attracted to brain eating amoebas, 10/10

Uh, is the true ending restricted to the male player character. . .? I heard a rumor that you can only get the true ending as a boy. As someone who really prefers to play as a female character and hates when male is automatically just seen as the 'default' I was curious about this.

I think the game looks very nice! But it wasn't that fun to play. The puzzles were more frustrating than fun. Like, for the cauldron one it would've been nice to have the hints on a list you could check while you're doing the puzzle. Also, the secret ending wasn't that rewarding and raised more questions than answers.
