Working on an update that will make it a bit clearer, but unsure if I should try to do it wordlessly(fubj gur sybjre/raqcbvag sbe gur svefg srj jvgu n qbggrq yvar?) or just have text saying it like above.

I think that would help a lot. Just seeing an example of a whole solved puzzle should get things going.
Added this quickly in v1.3.0 now, hopefully it helps somewhat.
