Are there really no indie games on elves?

Hi everyone,

I have always wanted to make a game centered on elves as they are my favourite and I feel they don't get any love at all anywhere. When I talked about my project most people told me to go for it as I would be the first person to ever make an indie elf centered game. I looked for a few days because I couldn't believe it and to my disappointment they were right...

Still i'd like to know if I looked wrong or if it's true that nobody ever made a single indie game on elves. thanks

yo someone get Chilling Scares to put this on his next Top 5 Disturbing Internet Phenomena video

this does prove my point actually, many people do demand elves I can see that too. But why does this terrify you exactly?

🤡

Hello again Elf Guy. I like your shiny new account

Oh so there is this kind of bullying on this site too just like reddit... Well I'm here to stay and I do hope your other victims won't back down, if t thats how things are here expect me to get even louder

Hey dude, I'm not trying to be mean or rude. I'm literally just acknowledging your existence. But I'll stop acknowledging you if its that upsetting ദ്ദി˙-˙ )

Well, I'd play it if it is fun, no matter whatthe character is. Are you making a game about elves?

yes for now i'm just gathering ideas and deciding what kind of game it will be, but it will be fully centered on elves

I think the reason is that elves has no One Single Image about them. Look at harry potter elf. Look at lord of the rings elf.

that makes them even better, they have ton of potential and a lot can be done with them, even more reasons to use them in games

Good luck with your game.

There are indie elf-centered games. There aren’t as many elven player characters as there are vampires or mundane high schoolers, but they exist.

The problem is the search for games is… bad. It’s bad.

A few selections that I’ve dug out since the last time we talked about this.

You can play as both elves and fae in my game.

I did a quick search on itch recently and didn't see much either. Good luck on your project, nice to see you doing sth about it, instead of just complaining. Developing for a uncatered niche helps to stand out amongst the constant flood of new games.

EDIT:

Btw, you can play as an elf in Dwarf Fortressadventure mode. Also if you use the mod "All races playable" you can play as elves in fortress mode:

• No Mining or Tree Cutting: Elves traditionally refuse to cut down trees or mine underground. In vanilla-accurate elven play, you rely on gathering plants, growing wood from seeds or special workshops, and trading.
• Grown Equipment: Elves do not forge traditional metal or cut wood items; instead, they use "grown" wooden equipment (like living wood armor, helms, and shields) that plants shed or grow for them.
• Exotic Pets: Elves have deep connections to nature and can bring or tame rare, exotic animals like unicorns and grizzly bears.
• No Alcohol Dependency: Unlike dwarves, elves generally do not require alcohol to survive and work happily.

I like elves too, but I’m still not quite inspired enough to create a story with them... I have some ideas, but I haven't fully developed them yet. If I ever make it happen, I'll let you know so you can try it and give me your honest opinion.
