I really liked the gameplay and the art!

The gameplay of this felt good, the abilities were cool, and it was ramping up really well! I just wished it had kept going after the boss fight was over! Thanks for making this!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! Originally, we wanted to make 3 levels and 3 bosses, so I also wanted to keep going after the first one :) A friend and I are determined to work on a larger/longer project where we'll apply what we learned here, and I really hope our next game will feel complete

ez.

I do have a question: where is the hitbox of the bats? I tried hitting them with my normal attack everywhere but could only end up killing them with my abilities
Developer(+1)

Bats can only be killed with an ability, since they only spawn after you get one of the abilities.

ooh, makes sense, I thought I just got lucky but sounds like a great game design decision!

I really like the art style and the whole autumn vibe! The environment especially looks really nice, and 49 frames for the player character is honestly crazy (I can definitely see why the movement feels so smooth lol)

The gameplay feels really smooth and chill, and I had a lot of fun until the end! Amazing work!!

I really dont like the art style o f the game beacuse dont seem to fit togther, but got me hooked til i managed to defeat the pumpkin king, good job!! a side scroller survivor like was a cary ideia, very fun!

Fun, but misses an aspect of what made Vampire survivors so fun, attack variety is important in these kinds of games, especially since it incentivises finding weapons that work together,  but it's fully understandable that, when under a tight time limit like this, it's not considered.

While the animation work for the reaper player character looks spectacular, the broken animation calls ruin it slightly, and it sticks out compared to the static enemies just sliding around, I'd have preferred if half the frames of animation given to the player were given to the enemies to stop it from looking so jarring

But, the abilities are fun, an interesting idea to add activated abilities to a Vamp Survivors style game, kudos to you, that's a fun idea

Ayy thanks for the solid feedback! You're so right, attack variety was high on our wishlist, but we unfortunately mismanaged some important parts and time ran out way too fast. And you're totally spot on about the enemies, even a quick 2-frame animation would’ve made the game feel so much more complete! Tysm for the insightful feedback :)

Is 49 frames of animation, for one character, too much for a jam? Maybe.

Does it look incredible? Absolutely.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! The blister on my finger from drawing this animation will be a reminder how crucial is to have a clear, realistic plan for key game assets. Somewhere mid-process we realized we didn't think about standing animation and lost a lot of time to deal with it.  Those 49 frames could be easily cut in half :) Valuable lesson for the future tho

I mean that's what's great about jams! Learning how to do jams lol

Developer

Love the overall vibe! Gameplay was smooth and enjoyable, and this is highly commendable for only 3 days of work!

Developer

Tysm! We survived on pure adrenaline to pull this off, hearing this means a lot!
