Fantastic piece, Terra looks so pretty!!

I haven't played FFIII, but beautiful piece! Excellent use of perspective/space!

Developer

Thank you! It was a little difficult filling the space as much as I liked with the tile limit, but I’m glad it turned out.

It’s a little old-fashioned by today’s standards, but FFIII (or VI more properly) is still one of my favorite games of all time.

Oh very cool! I was about to say this reminds me of classic Final Fantasy. FF6 is such a great game, and I love your take on Terra! Nobuo Uematsu's music is some of the best in gaming. I could listen to his soundtracks for hours!

Developer

Thank you! Uematsu’s soundtracks have inspired a life-long love of video game music. I remember importing the CDs back when that was a non-trivial thing to do.

FF6 is actually called FF3 in the US, I learned something there :o

Terra looks great! I really like the hint at a castle in the background using just one color too.

Great work :)

Yep! The original Final Fantasy II and III didn’t come out for the NES, so instead of keeping the original numbering, IV became II and VI became III (V also didn’t come out in America till years later.) This wasn’t rectified until FFVII came out for the PS1.

Thank you! I really wanted to convey depth with the background, so I gradually used fewer and fewer colors with distance.

Now that's not confusing at all 😂
What did they do when they re-released the games later? Did they change the numbers? 😆

You nailed the depth effect, that balloon in the distance looks awesome too!

Developer(+1)

After VII, all rereleases used the proper numbering. The new Pixel Remaster definitely would have been confusing if they hadn’t!

'What is Love?'
- she asks.

Developer(+1)

I always appreciated how they didn’t answer that question with romantic love, and instead explored concepts of family in the World of Ruin.

Beautiful work, the detail fade from foreground to background really gives a great sense of the world.
This is a reminder for me to once more try and play through it! I've always started it but never played more than a little bit of this entry. I know it's a lot of people's favorite in the series.

Thank you! Yes, I tried to convey depth by gradually reducing the number colors. I’m glad you picked up on it.

Final Fantasy VI really is a fantastic game, and easily the best cast of any JRPG (in my opinion, at least!) There’s also some really memorable scenes that definitely make it worth playing through.
