I didn't think I'd find something so full-scale in this mini jam. Your game actually felt complex, almost complete, with all those difficulty levels and lots of mechanics. About the latter - yeah, there are LOTS of mechanics. But! Some of them are very similar, like the one with log chopping, the one with a chicken and so on. I wouldn't say they spoil the gameplay, because they're primitive enough. And to me, there's an equation: quantity <-> complexity.
The only thing I would have been delighted to see is the impact of all those chores during the night. Like, we prepare something during the day to use it later as a defence tool or something? But I know all too well how the time limits are, so it's okay. Still, I'm struggling to believe you've made this game alone - such an amazing work!

Sounds like you understood a bit how I got all those "different" mechanics in ๐ yeah they're not all so different. The minigames all have pretty much the same setup, so a new one is mostly just new text, a different input action, and different graphics. I agree though about the chores having a more tangible effect in the night combat, that could've been cool (they just fill the stores meter for the Winter).
I will say, the night combats system came partially from an old unfinished Survivors-like (very rough, with no graphics) that I had tried to make a while back, with just an auto-attack and Q--I refined and fused some of it's logic into this 'farming sim' I had made here, to try to create a genre-mashup. The art is almost all Kenney assets, which saved me a ton of time. So yeah it's really just a few systems with varying basic interactions, inputs, and SFX hooked up to events.
Thanks for trying it out & commenting!
Hey so this is funny but I recently found a commercial game that released a few weeks ago that has the rough same idea as you called The Rabbit Haul. It's basically farming during the day, and tower defense + roguelike during the night. Your game kind of reminded me of that. ๐
I like your direction, and I think it could work! It was a fun little experience. Maybe I think you went too far with a lot of different little mechanics. I think there's potential here, but maybe a bit fewer mechanics and a better fleshed-out combat system would have benefited your game.
But it is still a solid entry! Super happy you found my game so that I could find you back! Until the next game jam my friend! ๐
interesting, I'll have to check that out! thanks for trying the game too!
yeah I think it is a few too many minigame types and/or mechanics for a jam game, and some of the minigames suffered as a result of not enough dev time bc of that. I wanted diff chores for each day since the planting and cleaning is the same every day (with increasing trash). more fleshed out combat system would have been nice too--- but you know how it is with jams๐
I think it also seems like a bit much because I was overscoping in my head, thinking about how I could expand the game further after the jam, so this ended up being like a slice of what I would want to be a larger, maybe incremental/automated game during the day (with the manual chore minigames) then having tangible power scaling throughout the night combats and moving forward in years to the next Winters etc... this little experience would be like the 'first run' or even a tutorial run for what the game would end up being. might revisit this idea in the future, but for now it's just a jam game (I'm working on something much larger currently in my main dev time๐
)
Looking forward to your future work!
A lot of mechanic, I quite impress about that, but I don't see the limitation "Staying warm" very well. Btw this is good game, good job bro
Thanks! Yeah I probably could've incorporated Staying Warm better within the actual gameplay, rather than just narrative (surviving Winter by keeping the harvest and yourself warm, by stocking up etc.).
I should've done a 'kindling the hearth' minigame in the cottage where you start up the fireplace ๐
I survived autumn, fun quick adventure!
That raven does put a lot of pressure on you ^^'
a lot of mechanics, really cool game, feels like was inspired by stardew valley!
